In this episode we will be joined by David Kelley of Kelley Herpetoculture.
Dave is a small time breeder with big time knowledge. We will be talking about diamond pythons and everything else Dave has going on over at Kelley Herptoculture. Dave is one of the smartest guys I know when it comes to the boilogy of pythons and lienage of his carpet pythons.
So many Carpet python fans out there... and why not? Carpet pythons are beautiful small to mid-sized Australian pythons that are available in many vibrant color and pattern morphs. Though somewhat high strung when young, they generally tame down readily with frequent handling, and become very impressive specimens as adults. This week's guest, Jason Baylin, of East Coast Serpents is a dyed-in-the-wool Carpet fan who also happens to know a thing or two about breeding these beautiful beasts from down under. Join CK for a peek inside Jason's world. You never know... there may be a new carpet in your future !
In this episode Chris Cannarozzi from Mystic Reptiles is back with us to talk Angolans, Rings and Retics.
We will be discussing these species in detail and Chris is going to share with us his approach to keeping and breeding them in captivity.
We will see how he is making out with his white lipped pythons and carpets pythons. Check out Mystic Reptiles to see all the cool species that they are working with.
Also we will be joined by Robyn Markland on our Reptile Insider segment.
This weeks topic Forums vs. Facebook/social media.
We are covering a whole heap of things in tonights show. Our guest is Trent Rennex. Trent was born in 1973 and grew up in Brisbane until he was 12, then moved to Maroochydore, Sunshine coast. Trent has always been an animal lover! Trent's grandfather lived in Townsville, his house backed on to what was called the common (a bush area full of reptiles etc.) Trent's Grandfather used to have greyhounds and every time Trent visited He would walk his Grandfathers greyhounds and look for snakes ( Trent was petrified of snakes but fascinated at the same time). Trent would catch little dragons and take them back to Maroochydore with him on the train.
Trent decided to devote himself to family life and a career until he reached the age of 30. it was at this age that the reptile bug really decided to bite down hard. Trent has kept and bred the following species since his inception into the hobby: Morelia Bredli, various forms of Antaresia, jungle carpet pythons, green tree pythons, darwin carpet pythons. trent also works with Albino Olive pythons, black headed pythons, rough scaled pythons, a pet woma, and Spencers monitor.
Trent has a collection of venomous snakes, that we will also be discussing in the show.
Ball Python enthusiasts all seem to dream a similar dream in which they fantasize about their favorite species to keep and breed. Many have confided in me about how thrilled they would be to someday be able to discover a cool new mutation by spontaneously producing one in his or her collections, truly the fabric of fantasy for most of us (as the odds of this actually happening to you aren't very high). Now imagine if someone you knew serendipitously accomplished such a feat, and gave you the opportunity to purchase the project. Would you jump at it? Enter Winston Smith of WHS Reptiles who believed that when such a chance presented itself it needed to be met with immediate action! Reptile Radio Host CK catches up with Mr. Smith to uncover the skinny about this new line of Scaleless Head BP's for the ever hungry ears of double R faithful. Are they the same as the BHB line? Will these incomplete dominant morphs produce the coveted Scaleless Ball in their super form? Winston seems to think so, and his first season of reproducing them makes a strong case for that being a fact. Tune in and find out.
In this episode of MPR we have an exciting new segment kicking off with Chad Brown and Robyn Markland called the Reptile Insider. In this weekly segment we will be hitting on different topics relating to the reptile world. Whether it's something to do with shipping a reptile, selling a reptile or just how to promote your reptile business. We will be bringing you some of the best advice you could get from two of the best guys in the reptile business. For this weeks segment we will be introducing the reptile marketplace a new site where you can buy and sell reptiles and reptile supplies. They will be telling us all about the new site and how through their years of experience they have developed the best site around for buying and selling reptiles and reptile supplies.
We will also be catching up with Chris Foley, Rogue Reptiles site B manager, to talk about scrub and White lipped pythons and some advice on working with these sometimes intimidating but beautiful species.
In this episode we will be talking to Ryan Young from Molecular Reptile. He has a very impressive collection with a variety of species of pythons. We will be hitting on them all. In this current season, Ryan hatched out a clutch of White lipped pythons. This species has proven difficult to hatch out in captivity. If you like pythons this is an episode you won't want to miss.
In this episode Owen is in control and will be joined by his partner, Chris Foley, to talk about partnering up with someone in the reptile business. Rob Stone from Highplains herpetoculture is also joining the guys to talk about a variety of topics. What are the pros and cons of being in the reptile business with as a partnership and many other reptile related topics.
When I think of Australian pythons or even Australian reptiles one name comes to mind Richard Shine.
Richard is a Professor in Evolutionary Biology at The University of Sydney. He has written numerous papers and books on the subject of Australian reptiles and we are honored to be speaking with him.
I have a feeling that this show will inspire people and will be an episode that the listeners will listen to again and again.
