It's 2015 and we're still dealing with an Obesity / Inactivity Epidemic and an Illiteracy Epidemic. My special guest authors today are doing something about these dilemmas.

"Sitting is the new smoking," says Jim Kirwan. He's on a mission to Get America Moving by helping exercise-averse adults transform their lives from "Excrutiating to Extraordinary". Jim is the author of The Exercise Factor: Ease into the Best Shape of Your Life Regardless of Your Age, Weight, or Current Fitness Level. Education innovator Gertrude "Gert" Garrow, creator of The AtoZeasy Reading System: Learn to Read in 30 Hours, is 'a cross between Mary Poppins and Mrs. Doubtfire.' Gert cites these troubling statistics: 90 million adults are functionally illiterate. 70% of adults read at grade 4 level or below. 60% of adult prison inmates and 85% of juvenile offenders are illiterate. What is she doing about it? In a single reading lesson, her systematic, sequential, cumulative and logical AZRS method can teach anyone what would normally take 20 lessons. How? AZRS teaches the key words that make up 75% of written English using songs and animated stories. Info: www.atozeasy.com

Success. We all want it, but few know how to achieve it. Only 5% of Americans are considered successful.

Claudia Hiatt teaches the methods of success used by Andrew Carnegie, Wallace Wattles, Bob Proctor and others; the same principles that when learned at age 40, 50 or older, invoke the response, "If only I had known this when I was younger." She decided to give her children a head-start on success, but discovered that teaching this to kids is like talking to the wall. How to make it relevant to what matters to them? Claudia's solution: HeadintheGameSports.com, where she applies success lessons to what today's kids want to achieve NOW – success in sports – and performance-based activities like dance, band, theatre, and academic contests.
