If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. Mark 3:25
Matthew 12:22-28New King James Version (NKJV)
A House Divided Cannot Stand
Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw. And all the multitudes were amazed and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”
Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”
But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against

The 1910 Slocum Massacre in East Texas officially saw between eight and 22 blacks killed, and evidence suggests African-American casualties were 10 times these amounts. Yet the massacre has become a dirty Lone Star secret, remarkably more for the inattention it has received than for its remembrance. Unlike most Texas communities in the early 20th century, the unincorporated town of Slocum — like Rosewood — was mostly African-American, with several black citizens considerably propertied and a few owning stores and other businesses. This alone, in parts of the South, might have been enough to foment violence.
According to the Aug. 2 edition of the Palestine Daily Herald, Gardner said there could be “no justification for shooting men in the back, waylaying or killing them in their houses.” By the time the grand jury findings were reported on Aug. 17, several hundred witnesses had been examined. Though 11 men were initially arrested, seven were indicted — and they were only accused in the murders of five of the identified victims. In the Slocum Massacre, seven men were indicted by a grand jury, but no one was ever tried.
This discussion will focus on the plight of one family (the Holley's) and it is through their eyes that we'll explore what happened at Slocum and what has been done to never forget the price that was paid in that small Texas town.

Tonight's special guest is Arnold Herman from Keansburg, NJ, a father of five, who, along with his wife, has also fostered 32 children over the years, some of them from abusive backgrounds. He is an author of two books with problem solving ideas related to teenagers, and runs "Experience Counts Inc", a non profit organization working to prevent the abuse of adolescents and teenagers by educating parents and children on ways to deal with each other without getting into abusive situations. Arnold writes, "Parenting an adolescent or teenager is without a doubt one of the toughest jobs in the world it is a 24-hour per day, seven day a week task that requires the patience of a saint, the Wisdom of Solomon, and the money of Bill Gates. By the time we get really good at it, our children have grown to adulthood." And he goes on, "The wrong kind of parenting can lead to many problems. In addition to creating a poor relationship between parent and child, it can often lead to various type of abuse. Abuse of adolescents and teenagers is a terrible, but often preventable, problem. More often then not it starts with a simple lack of communication. Then escalates to verbal and physical abuse The parents who perpetrate this type of abuse are often not bad people, but rather parents who have become frustrated in their attempts to communicate with, relate to, and control their children. Sexual abuse may also start innocently, with parents often unaware of the behavior that could lead to this terrible tragedy." Be sure to download his free handbooks: "Bring Back The Woodshed" and "Raising Reasonable Parents."

Oh boy. Here we go. Abortion discussion time. Women believe it's their Body to do what they wish. Is that really True though? Should the Man be allowed to have something to say? Should it be a Legal issue? Is it time to at least discuss Birth Control for preteens? Women are having too many babies by accident instead of taking care of the "problem". In turn, creating a hard life for all involved especially the Child. Tonight we discuss.
Today our guest is Attorney Mike McLively from the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. We will discuss the complexity of gun laws in the US.
The latest manifestation of this "hot" topic is campus life and guns -- "lawmakers in 10 states are busy adapting the issue of campus sexual assault to the campaign to arm college students". (http://nyti.ms/1D2uR1S)
How do we understand the prevalence of gun violence in America?
60% of the US homicide occur using a firearm. In other gun permeated countries like Finland it is only 19%. United States has the highest gun ownership in the world. (The Washington Post, 12/14/12)
Is it totally unrealistic to think we can ever become a land without guns such as Japan? Are they smarter than we are? What's the story?
