Chew the Phat Kewl Khat: Peter Ferrara From Forbes On Welfare Reform!

    in Politics

Can welfare reform end poverty in America? Peter Ferrara believes it can. Peter is a great article writer and a great contributer to Forbes! Peter has writen numerous articles about many different subjets of interest. Do not be surprised if he wakes you up to what welfare reform will mean to our country as a whole. Come listen to Peter Ferrara speak and answer questions that anyone may have about how our government spends over a trillion dollars a year on welfare! Call in and share your two cents on this issue. Call in at 1-347-677-1837.

The passage of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) in 1996 changed the way the federal government finances cash welfare to low-income families. Instead of a matching grant, states receive a set amount of federal funds in the form of a block grant with no adjustments for inflation, caseload numbers, or state spending. Social assistance programs, however, tend to experience increased demand in recessions – more people require assistance from the government during difficult economic times. To meet increased demand, states have to increase spending, but recessions usually bring lower revenues to states, requiring some cuts to discretionary spending. Analysts were concerned that PRWORA’s change to a block grant would jeopardize social spending during times of state fiscal stress and cause states to disproportionately cut welfare spending during recession.

Politics Done Right - Is welfare for the rich the same as welfare for the poor?

    in Politics Progressive

Today I will be exploring whether welfare for the rich has the same implications as welfare for the poor. Last night Bill Maher said the following.

“Republicans are right,” Bill Maher said “Not having to work and getting free money does mess people up. That’s why they love to talk about work, the virtue of work, the right to work, workfare, the dignity that comes with work.

In fact there is only one thing conservatives believe in more than work. And that is the God given right of rich people to leave all their money to their kids so they never have to work a day in their lives. …

I mean think about it. Republicans are on board with taxing people’s income, their investments, property, food, gas, booze, cigarettes, everything you buy, even your retirement. Those are all OK. But the one thing that must remain tax free is when money falls from the sky and lands in the lap of [explicative] Hilton. …

If the tough love of cutting off free money for the poor is the right thing to do how can we stand by and do any less for the Conrad Hiltons of the world. They’ve never known the dignity of work either. Shouldn’t we be helping them by taxing inheritance at one hundred percent?”

O YE DRYBONES : THE KKK vs PLANNED PARENTHOOD

    in Current Events

“Right now to give some of us just a perspective of the impact of abortion on demand in the black community, according to the archives of the Tuskegee Institute, from 1882 to 1968 – 86 years – the Ku Klux Klan lynched 3,446 Negroes,” Hoye said. “While it took the Klan 86 years to accomplish this, abortion on demand in America accomplishes that is less than 4 days.”

Hoye's numbers are based on the Guttmacher Institute's FACT SHEET on induced abortion in the United States. That fact feet shows that in 2008,   1.2 million abortions were performed in the U.S. Of those, 432,000 of those abortions were performed on black women. Using those figures, in three days 3,550 black babies were aborted. In four days, the total would be 4,734 aborted black babies.

The data collected on lynchings was compiled by Tuskegee University's Records and Research Division.

Hoye said that over 20 million of the more than 50 million abortions that have taken place since the Supreme Court Roe v. Wade ruling legalized the procedure are performed on black women.

“Since 1973, abortion on demand in black America has taken more lives than homicides, heart disease, diabetes, cancer and HIV/AIDS combined and has become the No. 1 cause of death in the black community,” Hoye said.

“The facts are clear,” he said. “The numbers don’t lie. Abortion on demand is a holocaust.”

Episode 335: Socialism, do we have to like it?

    in Politics Conservative

“Regardless of your religious beliefs, Larry Reed proves it takes a wild leap of imagination to view Jesus as a Progressive Socialist. This is a critically important issue because secular Progressives would like to control the moral high ground by capturing religion to support their elitist, statist ideology, which would allow them to do even more damage to genuine human flourishing.” — John A. Turn up Tuesdays

    in Entertainment

"A frank, sometimes-disturbing debut novel that highlights the darkness that can lurk within picture-perfect families"-Kirkus and they say, "...the story's brutal emotional honesty is what keeps it moving."-Kirkus Reviews.Kelly Flook Has left no stone un-turned in telling her story because she wanted to help alleviate some of the pain and shame suffered by the 39 million Americans sexually abused in the 20th Century alone (1 in 4 boys and 1 in 6 girls). As well, Huff Post printed Teresa Huizy the Exec. Director of National Children's Alliance saying 315,000 children were reported sexually abused in the US last year. At that rate there will be another 3 million plus more abused in ten years.

(In her own words) I did everything society said to be happy. I got the degrees: BA, a Montessori degree, and an MA. I married the “right” men who could “give me respect and boost my confidence.” First an attorney. Had one daughter. The marriage ended after seven years because of his affairs. Eight years later, my second husband was a cardiologist from Virginia. We had a bi-coastal, whirlwind coke-induced love affair for eighteen months. The marriage lasted six months. I did things I thought might help society. I sent women to London for abortions before Roe v. Wade. I was active in the peace movement to stop the Vietnam War. I started NORML (the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) with my first husband. I had the right jobs: I wrote and produced for PBS. I won numerous awards. I wrote screenplays to shine the light on inequities. None of this alleviated my pain, shame and suffering from the childhood beatings and sexual abuse that led to my self-abuse. My healing journey began withShhhh!
