Independent Everything: LIVE with Rap/Hip-Hop Hybrid Sensation ~ Struc Supreme

    in Music

    Struc Supreme is a powerhouse.

This Atlanta native is a hybrid of rap, hip-hop, and alternative music. All songs by this recording artist are of superb production, flow, wordplay, lyrical content, and tracks. Forged from the same Atlanta metal as homegrown legends Outkast andT.I., Struc Supreme's sound embraces all that the Dirty South is known for but with lyrics that cut a little deeper. Struc Supreme's genre-crossing influences are evident in his sound. It is very refreshing to hear an artist that is innovative and true to their art. He exudes truth and integrity. Talent and marketability has landed him national attention as of lately. You can hear the soul of Bobby Blue Bland in the flow of Struc's arrangements. And not letting up on the bounce, he brings the groove and over-the-top brashness of Bobby Brown. Most of Struc Supreme’s songs are like street anthems. Struc Supreme lays down beats that are almost sing-song, but lays lyrics over them that are bulletproof in their intensity.

Momma's Hip Hop Kitchen + Do Hip Hop's Elders Get Respect & More

    in Music

Two amazing topics tonight, interspersed with our usual rundowns of New York hip hop music and culture.

One, well two, of our favorite guests will be joining us for the third straight year, as Lah Tere and Kathleen Adams call in to discuss this year's "Momma's Hip Hop Kitchen," a wonderful annual event that takes place at Hostos Community College in the Bronx. The one-day long event features a stunning lineup of women, performers, guest speakers, entrepreneurs and activists, all convening to shed light on important women's issues, as well as general issues, but from a female perspective.

Momma's Hip Hop Kitchen is an extremely family friendly, all-ages event, and is one of the best opportuinities to witness the positive power of the hip hop community, particularly when it comes to women and girls. We are proud to be official media sponsors of this event, and urge all who can, to attend.

We'll also discuss the whether or not "old school" hip hop is getting the proper "respect," around the country and in business. This issue was sparked by a Daily Beast article, proclaiming that Hip Hop's OGs were not getting their respect, from hip hop radio and media in particular.

Show host and journalist Manny Faces took excception to the portrayal, even thuogh the author had some valid points. Read Manny's rebuttal, and join us live to discuss the issue.

Independent Everything: LIVE with Hip-Hop Gospel Artist ~ Young Preach

    in Music

Mitchell Darell Ison aka Young Preach is a Hip-Hop Gospel Independent Artist from New York, raised in Atmore, AL.
He has always had a passion for music. His father is a musician...it runs in the family. As a youth coming up, he played drums in the church.

He started rapping at the age of 16. He was influenced by Judge Johnson aka Young Holy. His music told a story. Something that Young Preach felt that he could relate to. Writing songs and producing music that will touch the hearts and souls of people is his desire..

An educated man, led by God, he is on a mission. At age 20, his goals include saving as many souls as possible. That's what he is about. He aspires to preach the gospel and hopes for a change to come. Winning souls for the Kingdom is not an easy task, but he uses the tools that God has equipped him with. The music that Young Preach produces has a different sound. He tries to reach people of his generation, with music that they can feel. Young Preach wants his music to make a BIG impact on the world. He wants to be "the next big thing!"

He states that his motivation is God. "He told Me to Go, So Im Going."
