Virtual Assistance for Authors with Marketing & PR Specialist Michelle Anastasio

    in Business

My Advertising and Marketing career began in 1998, at the advertising agency, Poster Publicity International in New York City (that later merged with Kinetic Worldwide). My post as "Out-of-Home" Media Specialist and Account Executive included media buying, strategy and planning, and production for "Outdoor" media.

The above experience provided a sturdy foundation for the my next role as Senior Media Planner at Media Space Solutions in Norwalk, Connecticut. This position was twofold - both creative and analytical.  I not only oversaw national print campaigns and managed the RFP process for national brands, but I also worked closely with the IT Director to specify, develop, implement and communicate enhancements to PlanET (a proprietary planning tool) and APEX systems.

With solid marketing and advertising expertise, I worked in a consulting capacity for several years at both Connecticut and New York-based firms to include Team GAT (German American Technologies) and G.E. Pharma. In addition to Print, and Outdoor Media, these varied roles led me to obtain a firm grasp on planning and analysis for trade show marketing, online advertising, and social media management.

With varied marketing and media experience fifteen years strong, I decided to launch my own firm (CT Virtual) in 2011. Our "Virtual Assistant Solutions" provide strategy and creative direction to a growing niche. In a time where the publishing industry is undergoing drastic changes, so are the methods for driving traditional PR and Book Marketing services, and this is where my firm comes in. We partner with Authors and Speakers to provide them with cutting edge Marketing, PR, and Creative Services that drive exposure and help them sell more books. Our drive for innovation and excellence is unsurpassed. We form winning strategies and our forte is versatility, as evidenced by our wide-ranging portfolio.

InformationWeek IT Life Radio: Where Virtual Reality Falls Short

    in Technology

Oculus Rift and other virtual reality helmets are seen by many as potential game changers in gaming, retail, entertainment and other industries. But VR has significant weaknesses. You're stuck inside the helmet. It locks your experience and makes it difficult to share with co-workers or friends.

John Underkoffler thinks there is a better way. He's been called "the real-life Tony Stark." Underkoffler the computer scientist and award-winning user-interface designer behind the films "Minority Report" and "Iron Man," believes the future isn't locked in these headsets, it's in shareable experiences and workspaces. Collaboration is not about creating virtual walls, but working with one another on actual walls. People need space for their ideas to spread as they flow in real time. VR users need a whole new UI to really interact properly.

We'll talk to Underkoffler about the future of collaboration and shared visuals in the workspace. We'll see what might be beyond virtual reality.

John Underkoffler is CEO of Oblong Industries, developer of the g-speak Spatial Operating Environment and the Mezzanine conferencing and collaboration system in use at firms from Boeing to Beats Music. Oblong's technological trajectories build on fifteen years of foundational work at the MIT Media Laboratory, where John was responsible for innovations in real-time computer graphics, large-scale visualization techniques, and the I/O Bulb and Luminous Room systems. He has been science advisor to films including Minority Report, The Hulk (A.Lee), Aeon Flux, Stranger Than Fiction, and Iron Man. John also serves as adjunct professor in the USC School of Cinematic Arts; on the boards of the 5D Conference, the University Art Museum board at CSULB, Sequoyah School, and the E14 Fund; and on MIT's Visiting Committee. He is the 2015 Cooper Hewitt National Design Award winner for Interaction Design.

Assistance to the Incarcerated Mentally Ill (AIMI) Small Victories! June 24

    in Politics Progressive

Assistance to the Incarcerated Mentally Ill (AIMI) is on air Wednesdays around midnight EST. Join us by phone at (818)572.2947. This is PTSD Awareness Month, and we want everyone who battles with PTSD to know we support you. Congressman Tim Murphy (PA-18) announced $15 million in funding for Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) is included in the appropriations bill. Thank you for small beginnings, U.S. Congress. NAMI has pledged support for "Helping Familes in Mental Health Crisis Act of 2015, saying "Representatives Tim Murphy (R-Pa.) and Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas) have introduced HR 2646 ... This introduction begins a legislative process toward mental health reform, which is long overdue. NAMI has submitted a letter of support to Representatives Murphy and Johnson indicating our appreciation of their leadership and our commitment to work with them to pass comprehensive mental health legislation."  - See more at: http://goo.gl/2t27dE

More people are becoming aware of the injustice of imprisoning rather than treating mental illness. We attribute all three victories above to you, the People who stand up for the human rights of persons with serious mental illness. Homelessness, prison, and death must cease being America's response to serious mental illness. Thank you for giving "Assistance to the Incarcerated Mentally Ill" and to people who live under the threat of arrest because of a common, treatable health condition.

Please help our advocacy work to continue enjoying victories by purchasing a very well-written book by a lifelong human rights advocate who has bipolar disorder:  "Bloody Toombs" by Bob Darby now available through Amazon! http://goo.gl/LZvjSS > Read a long, free preview at this site! Select "look inside."
