Her goal for this book was to help change the perception that healthy foods look weird and taste bad. The typical American diet is full of greasy high sodium fast food that really packs on the pounds and sets us up for serious health problems. Reducing the quantity of animal protein and upping the plants we eat has been proven to reverse heart disease, normalize blood sugar and lipids, and lower both weight and blood pressure in just a couple of weeks.
Statistics support these concerns, especially in the black community. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 78.6 million Americans are obese, which directly impacts the health and longevity of nearly one-third of the U.S. population. Obesity-related conditions include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer. High blood pressure and arteriosclerosis impact the sexual health of Americans as well, reflected in erectile dysfunction in men, and reduced desire and blood flow to the vaginal area in women.
These are largely preventable afflictions, directly related to what we put in our mouths. Reality is, what we're putting on our plates is killing us. Find out more about how you can begin changing your diet for the better in this broadcast.

I am excited to have Monique from Brown Vegan coming on the show. Even though I became a vegetarian in 2013, I am now in a phase where I want to transition to becoming a vegan. Therefore, I wanted Monique to come on the show and share her journey. I found Monique on YouTube I believe last year. Her videos are great especially for those who are struggling with giving up certain foods where they can substitute them with other plant based options. I also enjoy the fact that she has a family which is helpful for those with children and/or a spouse. Yes, children can be vegan too! Of course I would suggest checking with a pediatrician and/or nutritionist as well, especially one who will be encouraging of this lifestyle with children (many of them promote meat and dairy diets).
The Bible speaks on how our bodies are the temples. I believe this also includes what we put inside of it. I do not believe that we should just put anything in our bodies, but to be conscious of what we are putting in it. This is not a show to force veganism down anyone's throats, but based on how the world is going, I strongly believe we should try to avoid and/or limit a lot of the foods we are used to eating.
I hope this show will encourage those who are considering a vegan lifestyle or those who have already begun to embark on this journey. I am looking forward to learning about more options and ideas that Monique has. She has a lot of resources on her website as well, which I will place below.

What can I say, Chef Shawn's nuber one passion in the food category is MEXICAN food. First Mexican then comfort food. I love all the fresh bold yummy flavours that make my life a fiesta. Tech Rob and Chef Shawn use to make a 4 hour drive just to enjoy the Mexican food restaurant chain Chi Chi's. Well ok that was 50% of ofriedur reason for that trip. What an amazing fun place, too bad it had it's fall from grace. We have some great recipes to share with you all and yes his very own FRIED ICE CREAM RECIPE! Our very first Mexican radio show and the not so Mexican fried ice cream recipe is shared!!!! What we consider Mexican food is Americanized and Canadianized somewhat.... Fast food are two bad words now a days. There are the ones that shame people and then others openly eat it and others hide in shame and are closet eaters. It is what it is and always seem to be at the fore front of top food news talk on the radio and on tv. Tech Rob and Chef Shawn are ok with the fast food business and enjoy some of their menu items. Love it or hate it you usually have something to say about it either way. Pull up a seat to the Chef's table and let's get this talk started. Maybe a Chef's fast food recipe or two, food articles and what ever we decide to bring up to the drive thru.
