Teaching our children how to pray is a part o a vital foundation that will prove to be something they will be thankful or.
Prayer must be taught to our children with a purpose. Join us as we study the prayers of Paul, Jesus and others in the bible and learn to use their words as a model for your own prayers. We will personalize them for ourselves and for others and pray them for amazing results. We will also look at the prayers of King David in the book of Psalms. Andrew Murray says " True prayer, that takes hold of God's strength, that availeth much, to which the gates of heaven are really opened wide-who would not cry, 'Oh, for someone to teach me thus to pray'?" He concludes, "Jesus has opened a school, in which He trains His redeemed ones, who specially desire it, to have power in prayer." Prepare to take your prayer life to the next level as we pray the word of God. Your prayer life will be transformed. Tell a friend and join us for the discussion on prayer.

God is a kind and loving father. He wants good things to happen for his children but it requires us to ask. Just like we ask our earthly father and mother when we want things in our lives. We just have to ask. Matt 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: When we pray that we have to pray believing. Also, when we pray we have to pray that it "his will" and not ours.
In life sometimes we are challenged with situations that we wonder why but, when we seek Gods wisdom in spirit and in truth He reveals things we don't see with our natural eyes. Most of the time we don't want to accept the truth. In John 14:12 the bible promises '12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
As believers we must ask God always for His will to be done. Tune in, call in and let's pray for our children.

Heroes of Katrina: Ten Years after: Bonnie Kaye: Our Children and Heroine

Since Hurricane Katrina, the onslaught of heroine into St. Bernard Parish has increased to nearly epidemic proportions. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention indicated that in 2009, the drug induced death rate in Louisiana was higher than the national average. For the 2004 - 2008 time period, St. Bernard Parish in Louisiana had the 5th highest rate of drug poisoning deaths in the country, at 48 deaths per 100,000 population.
Our guest, Bonnie Kaye, lost her daughter to heroine. Bonnie’s grieving began years before her daughter Jennifer stuck a needle in her arm for one last high.
“My daughter was dying for a long period of time,” Kaye, an Oxford Circle resident, said recently. “You are dying for a long time before the actual death comes.”
Kaye shares the heartbreaking story of her daughter’s overdose death in 2002 with her new book Jennifer Needle in Her Arm: Healing from the Hell of My Daughter’s Addiction.
Writing is familiar territory for Kaye, a relationship counselor and author of eight books who also operates the Northeast GED Center, in Philadelphia. But that experience, as well as the passage of 12 years, didn’t make her latest book any easier to write.

The news is blowing up of news of children being stolen off the streets, running away and getting tricked over social media. How do we as a community protect our children better? Are we letting our children have too much access to the world? What do you know about your neighbors and the people who socialize with your neighbors? Can you even trust your neighbors have your best interest in mind? Will your neighbor report things they see your children do, like sneak people in the house?
A USA TODAY examination of more than three decades of FBI homicide data shows that on average, 450 children are killed every year by their parents. Northeastern University criminologists applied statistical models to the records. USA TODAY analyzed the database for a detailed look at who kills, who is killed and how. Several patterns are apparent:
The vast majority of child victims – three out of four – are under 5. More than a third of all victims are under a year old.
Nearly half of all victims died from physical beatings or other injuries at a parent's hands.
Fathers are more likely to kill. Men killed six out 10 children, most often beating or shooting them. Fathers were at fault in 75% of cases when children were shot to death by a parent and in 64% of cases when a child was beaten. "Violence is a masculine pursuit," says Jack Levin, a Northeastern University criminologist.
When mothers kill, they are far more likely to kill victims under the age of 1 than children of any other age. Nearly 40% of all children killed by their mothers were less than a year old.
When a parent is accused of killing a child, it dominates headlines and social media.
"People are fascinated by this," says Sara West, a forensic psychiatrist at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland. "It's an unfathomable concept."
The Lord will increase me more and more, me and my children
Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, eventhe God of our salvation. Selah.
God has increase on his mind for us and our children. That is why the scriptures deliberately mentions ME and MY CHILDREN.
As we watch our children grow, they are increasing in stature in height, in weight and in thier abilities every single day - we must also boldly expect increase in thier spirituality, in thier wisdom and in thier accomplishments, and according to Psalm 68:19, we should expect to see it everyday...So dare I say, everyday should be Christmas, or Hannukah, or Kwanzaa, if we interpret this scripture correctly?
As we pray today, let us confess out load thru out this day "Father, I am expecting delivery of my daily load of benefits today, not just for me, but for __________ and ____________ "(call your children's name out in the blank space. And then watch for it. Tell your children to expect it and then celebrate it!
Amen and Amen!
