This is a show about the value of our children and how they should know the real meaning of Christmas. There is an obvious reason why a baby is born without worldly knowledge to loving parents. We parents are expected to teach them how to walk, talk, and eat. Before parents send their toddlers to school, society and God expects us to nourish the little ones with life substances. Our children depend on us to learn how to live, grow; remain fit and healthy in more ways than one.
That includes teaching them the meaning of Christmas, how and why Jesus Christ was born. It is parents’ responsibility to set an example and give our little ones a meaning of life’s foundation that will last them a lifetime. Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
Our special guest, Detra and John Taylor, who raised two boys, along with nieces and nephews in a Christian home will share their experiences. Faith Eurie-Turner who’s Blogs can be found on http://professionalnet.ning.com/ will also be out special guest. Join us for a real Christmas threat that makes you feel good and reinforces your belief in the ways to raise your children.

Extensive research has gone into high achievers, with the end result being more linked to discipline, drive and dedication than to innate talent. Many kids get easily frustrated at a very young age and after a few failed attempts at say, tying their shoe, they give up, cry, and request a Velcro pair. While temperament will always play a role, all children can be taught to push themselves beyond what they believed achievable. How you can raise your children to be winners.
There is a major question in the black community about whether or not physical punishment is a viable option for disciplining children. The practice has been around since slavery and is so ingrained into black parents, that it isn't viewed as something that is problematic but rather a necessary component to parenting. In her Book Beating Black Kids, author Asadah Kirkland, discusses why black parents have got to change their thinking about this tradition and gives effective alternatives for parents who may be uninformed about how to be effective at parenting in a way that doesn't involve corporal punishment. Asadah Kirkland is the featured guest on the show. Please call in and share your views. WE WILL ALSO BE DISCUSSING THE LATEST IN THE NYPD BROOKLYN POLICE SHOOTING. CALL IN 347-215-8933

Saturday, Dec. 20 10am PST
Ailie Kerr is a Registered Nurse with a Master of Arts in Leadership and Training - Healthcare. Ailie's specialties are dementia care, behavioural interventions, violence prevention and personal safety. Her favorite things to teach are brain and behaviour, nonverbal communication, stress management and self-regulation strategies. She is deeply curious about what makes us human; stating "what shapes us, why do I react the way I do and you react the way you do?"
Learning the basics of being human has changed her life. Stating "I thought I "knew" the basics until I crashed into clinical depression and had to use the tools on myself. Learning what my emotions are telling me shifted everything."
It is Ailie's life mission to “Glow and Grow” and share the things that light me up – in the hopes of lighting a spark in others.
Roma J. Benjamin is an educator in both the spiritual and secular arenas. Her parents Porter and Mary Jane Benjamin Sr. were strong advocates of education although theirs was limited. She knew from a young age she was destined to be an educator to the multitude. Her unique personality and tough but fair love approach allows her to not only educate children and be a positive role model. Benjamin is also the Senior Pastor of Greater Faith Ministries, Harrisburg, PA. She is also the founder of New Sound Literacy and Technology Center. Pastor Benjamin’s boldness and total commitment to the Word of God is evidence of her “no-nonsense” approach to very sensitive and difficult situations. Illiteracy is a sensitive issue in which she has had firsthand experience with. During her tenure as a teacher and principal, she experienced failing students passed through the system with very little chance of recovery. Fighting in a failing system for the life of students, she decided that ‘enough is enough’ and walked away from a six-digit job to obey a God-given mandate, a call to action to address the perpetual culture of functionally illiterate children. Dr. Benjamin has been in public school education for 18 years. She taught grades 1-8 and also served as principal in elementary, alternative education, middle and high school. Dr. Benjamin was sent to buildings that were failing academically and had major behavioral issues. The grace of God and the anointing on her life allowed her to bring much change, where buildings went from failure to success. In addition to being a pastor and recently retired principal, Dr. Benjamin is currently writing her 1st book entitled, “Crossing the Finish Line-Only to Begin the Journey.” She has appeared on the Word Network and continues to be on a variety of radio talk show interviews discussing the illiteracy issues.
