Thank you for choosing Pinnacle of Praise Show – Beatrice Ndura, Host
Special Prime Time Episode
We have a great show today. We are meeting with franchise expert, franchise author and consultant Tom Scarda and Tom is going to talk about his recent book, The Magic of Choosing Uncertainty. Tom will answer the following:
Why did you write the book “The Magic of Choosing Uncertainty”?
From your experience, what types of characteristics make successful franchisees?
What do you like about franchising?
What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to buy a franchise?
In part II, we hear ther President of Franchise Interviews' (Marty McDermott) interview with another NY personality Dr. John Tantillo to discuss branding and franchising.
There will always be uncertainty in life, and especially when you start breaking out of the mould of who you are now to become who you should be. Things like fear, failure, rejection, and disappointment are all going to come knocking at your door. So what should you do? Throw in the towel now, before you have even gotten started?
No! There is only one way to overcome uncertainty, and that is have your mind, heart, and soul laser-focused on becoming what your creator put you here to do. When you do that, no force on Earth can stop you!
If I asked you right now if you are ready to go out and start living the way you should be, what would you say? I suspect that, at this point in the book, you might say yes. Yes, you are probably getting more and more hopeful about your future and excited that you can actually overcome your current circumstances. And that is fantastic!
But what if I asked you if you if you were ready to proclaim your expectations of yourself to the entire world? Would you say yes to that? Most people will probably be a little, or even a lot, more hesitant about doing that. And that is completely understandable.
It can be hard to proclaim that you have high expectations for yourself, because people are going to hold you to them. Am I right?
So I am going to make it easy on you. Instead of asking you to tell the world what you expect of yourself, I want you to just tell yourself. Using the seven statements below as guide, create your own high expectations for yourself, and them read them daily.

There are no magic formulas for effective leadership, but certain abilities help one to deal with and overcome situations of extreme uncertainty.
"If the mind is to survive this constant battle with the unexpected, two qualities are indispensable: first, an intellect that even in this moment of intense darkness retains some trace of the inner light that will lead to truth, and second, the courage to go where that faint light leads." —Carl von Clausewitz

We look at a lot of scenarios for what might happen in the future -- cool technological developments, major advances in science, new evolutionary developments for humans and for other species on this planet -- but are there any future developments that we can say with any certainty will happen?
Hosts Stephen Gordon and Phil Bowermaster introduce the Inevitablity Scale, a tool for gauging whether a specific future outcome is inevitable. We will take a look at how some future events stack up when measured for inevitability:
The Next Presidential Election
The End of the World
The First Manned Flight to Mars
The Emergence of Greater-than-Human Artificial Intelligence
What can we say for sure that we know is going to happen? Tune in and explore.
Nihar is an award-winning writer, covering inspirational stories around the world. Believe it or not, he stumbled upon writing completely by accident after moving to New York City for the very first time. While in the Big Apple, Nihar noticed that there were thousands of people missing out on the greatness of everyday life, due to the very fast paced lifestyles they lived.
As a result of his observations, he had a big idea to inspire people around the globe by writing a book (which was strange, because he always hated reading books. Why would he ever write one?). With the support of his family and friends though, Nihar ended up debuting his first international book, Win No Matter What, with Balboa Press in June 2013.
Since then, his work has been featured in Washington Square News, U.S. News and World Report, The Huffington Post, and several podcasts. Nihar is now working on a new book, The Corridor of Uncertainty (a heart-warming narrative about the Afghanistan cricket team), which he hopes to release in 2015.
Belief, like fear or love, is a force to be understood as we understand the Theory of Relativity and Principles of Uncertainty: phenomenon that determine the course of our lives. Yesterday, my life was headed in one direction. Today, it is headed in another. Yesterday I believed that I would never have done what I did today. These forces that often remake time and space, that can shape and alter who we imagine ourselves to be, begin long before we are born and continue after we perish. Our lives and our choices, like quantum trajectories, are understood moment to moment. At each point of intersection, each encounter suggests a new potential direction.
Join us tonight as Kevin and the Marvelous Maggie share some of additional insight on how all boundaries are conventions, waiting to be transcended. Knowing, One may transcend any convention, if only one can first conceive of doing so. Call in LIVE @424.243.9540 or Listen in on BrainInjuryRadio.com.
What were the factors that led to this potential unraveling for the growth coalitions?
Urban renewal increased tensions rather than resolving them, leaving cities in a greater state of fear and uncertainty.
Demands by African-Americans to integrate neighborhoods and schools put the growth coalitions in a bind because they feared increased white flight if the demands were met. Most growth coalitions tried to walk a tightrope, some more successfully than others.
Many local banks and corporations were bought up by even larger corporations from outside the city, or moved their headquarters to even larger cities, leaving the growth coalitions holding the bag. Some growth coalitions then fragmented.
Up-scale neighborhoods, environmentalists, left-wing activists fresh from Civil Rights and anti-war struggles, and well-educated high-tech workers passed slow-growth legislation or blocked specific projects in some cities.
Low-income people in small towns and urban neighborhoods, often led by women and minorities, became part of an environmental justice movement that resisted the creation of chemical dumps and waste treatments plants in their areas (Szasz, 1994).
Unions based in service workers and government employees later joined the slow-growth, pro-neighborhood coalitions in some major cities.Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in America. 78% of their clinics are in minority communities. Blacks make up 12% of the population, but 35% of the abortions in America. Are we being targeted? Isn't that genocide? We are the only minority in America that is on the decline in population. If the current trend continues, by 2038 the black vote will be insignificant.
The Dr. Pat Show: Moments in Time with Author Nina Payne. Set against a backdrop of complex family relationships and friendships, and her beloved brother battling terminal cancer, Moments in Time is as much about grief, heartache, and compassion as it is about the sparks of desire. Moments in Time is strongly inspired by Payne’s real-life experiences. Having lost her brother, who also happened to be her best friend, in 2012 of cancer and then her father four months later to a broken heart, the book explores the obstacles many of us face and the courage it takes to overcome them.
The Dr. Pat Show: The Money Anxiety Cure with Author Koorosh Ostowari.
Uncertainty creates anxiety, and we are engaged in a modern collective anxiety known as “money anxiety disorder.” Money anxiety disorder lies at the heart of so many of the disruptions that occur in our lives, our society, and our world. It can be triggered by events like fluctuations in the marketplace, job loss, employment instability, divorce, or even just struggling to stay on budget. Like the economy itself, our anxiety about money fluctuates. But we don’t have to be at the mercy of it. We can learn to cope with unpredictable financial times and silence our panic. There is a cure for money anxiety disorder.
The Pittsburgh Pirates' 2015 season is underway, and there are plenty of topics ripe for discussion on City of Champions Radio. Host Matt Gajtka welcomes former colleague and astute Bucs observer Matt Shetler to the show to pick apart the roster and analyze the team's chances as it goes for three playoff appearances in a row. The guys take a look at what should be a potent lineup and identify its flash points, then they delve into the pitching staff, which has as much uncertainty as upside. Also, Matt and Matt give their thoughts on this week's Josh Harrison contract extension and wonder who might be the next player to put pen to paper.
