The enchanting music of Grammy-nominated John Two-Hawks is considered by many to be a quantum leap above the fray. It soars with breath taking symphonic sounds in one moment, and then soothes the spirit with the powerful organic voice of a lone Native flute in the next. A master virtuoso of the Native American Flute, JTH is also an extraordinary vocalist, musician and composer.
Always, Two-Hawks has held fast to his Oglala Lakota Sioux lineage and culture, and it is from this place that the soul of the music he creates and breathes to life is born....
John Two-Hawks' music is alive. If you've heard it, then you know. If not, then we need to tell you that it is nothing like any Native American Flute Music you've ever heard before. Not only has John Two-Hawks worked with metal bands, but he is a bit of a metalhead himself, citing Rob Zombie and Ozzy as some of his favorite music to listen to. Metal fans probably best know him for his contribution on the Nightwish song "Creek Mary's Blood" from their 2004 album Once, but John Two-Hawks has been making music for a long time, and is now preparing to enter the musical realm of holiday music!
For this magical Christmas album, John Two-Hawks joins his 'celestial sister', Johanna Kurkela, angelic Finnish singer and recording artist, as they blend their brilliant voices with sparkling music and enchanting flutes for this beautiful collaboration. A reflective, delightful, mystical tapestry of songs and sounds that will stir your heart and touch your spirit. Our first guest of the holiday season, John Two-Hawks will bring along 3 new songs from the upcoming Noel album (released on December 4th), where you will hear 3 brand-new songs before release date! Be sure to tune in, because you never know...he might bring along some other surprises with him!
Welcome to the Healthy Baby Boomers Network Blog Talk Radio Show. Today I am speaking with Holley Kelley, credentialed Professional Gerontologist, with a Masters’ Degree in Applied Gerontology and a BA in Journalism and Psychology. Author of the book Sunrises and Sunsets: Final Affairs Forged with Flair, Finesse, and FUNctionality, her writing career actually started quite early with poetry, songs and short stories. She often performed her songs with local bands and at local events. During her early college years at Brenau University, she wrote an advice column for the college newsletter, had her short stories published, and worked at the college radio station. Around the age of 21, she was asked to write and officiate a custom funeral service. That event led her towards new focus in her career. She held a management position in the health care field, started a business writing personal eulogies, and finally left the health care industry to open her own senior-focused insurance firm. When she returned to Brenau to get her Gerontology Masters Degree, her book was born and she now writes and speaks about aging and advance care planning for the last phase of life.
It will go down as the biggest upset in a heavyweight title fight since Tyson-Douglas, but it will also go down as one of the most boring, uneventful heavyweight title fights in the history of boxing. Despite the lack of action, in Dusseldorf Germany today, Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) outpointed long-reigning champ Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) in a unanimous decision victory by scores of 116-11, 115-112 X2.
This was the Ukrainian’s first loss in eleven years. Wladimir never seemed to let his hands go throughout the entire fight, and Fury was keen to keep moving around the ring and not get caught with one of Wladimir’s big right hands.
Wladimir had a career low in punches landed: 52 of 231 (23%). Fury only landed 86 out of 371 punches (23%), but was consistently landing at least one more shot per round than the champion was, and most rounds were virtually impossible to give to Wladimir: that is how inactive and gun shy he looked.
