WnT radio with host Jaclyn Roessel will run in tandem with National Suicide Prevention Week. Suicide prevention can only begin to be addressed with awareness and education of risk behaviors as well as protective conditions which lower suicide risk. Our conversation will also include discussion of American Indian cultural values that provide challenges in preventing suicides.
Our guests this week are:
Dr. Mary Hasbah Roessel, MD is a board certified psychiatrist practicing in New Mexico. She works with Native Americans in her private psychiatric practice and brings a special expertise in cultural psychiatry and understands the perspective of people from different cultures
Chloe Grabanski, Director of Fundraising & Supporter Relations with To Write Love On Her Arms , will be joining us to share information about the programs TWLOHA are holding as part of National Suicide Prevention Week.
Join me Monday, February 4th at 6 p.m. Pacific/9 Eastern on Radio Enso for the return of another favorite past guest: personal trainer and writer Amy Clover. Amy was on the show early in 2012 talking about her work empowering people through fitness and positive action and her blog Strong Inside Out. Now she’s taking things to the next level with an Indiegogo campaign to raise money to fund her upcoming 30×30 Project. She says, “To celebrate the 30th birthday I almost didn’t have, I’ll be touring across the US and Canada teaching 30 donation-based bootcamps in 30 different cities to raise money for the non-profit movement called To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA).” Help near-suicide survivor, Amy Clover, show the struggling that hope is real. A tour of bootcamps across North America to benefit charity. This is not just a workout. This is not just a tour. This is a movement. To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. I’m doing this for TWLOHA because their efforts offer the support I wish I’d had when I didn’t know how to ask for help. For more about Amy, visit http://stronginsideout.com.
GetRealLive chats with CEO Jamie Tworkowski of To Write Love on Her Arms. This incredible organizations is committed to helping those who struggle with identity, depression and self harming. In a society where media dictates the views and actions of our culture, WE want to take a stand. We will not sit back and watch our family, friends, classmates, or peers continue to believe the lies force fed EVERYDAY. We want to give the youth the ONE and ONLY truth about the tough topics they are bombarded with. We want to help reflect HIS light into the dark paths youth are faced to walk.
