The Electical Grid in the USofA is fragile and we have made ourselves blindly dependant upon it. What if any little thing disrupts the electricity supply to our homes and businesses? Are your read?. What is your BACK UP Plan? What will you do when the gas runs out for your generator? What to do about these ever rising prices for electricity?
Mother Earth Day, Week, Year, Life?:
This consumer mentality does not serve us, Mother Earth nor the Freedom that we say we are about. What do we have to have, do and be to live in sustainable harmony with Mother Earth. Are we truly at ONE with our Earth? Are we ready for what we are unwittingly creating? What does the future hold? Can we flip our scripts?

Tehachapi Turbine Trouble -- Penny Melko will be on the program from Tehachapi (to talk about the impacts of replacing small, older turbines with monsters. Are they really less impactful? We also hope to talk about planned future developments in that area. From Wikipedia -- Wind development in the Tehachapi Pass began in the early 1980s. The area hosts a multitude of wind farms, comprising one of California's largest wind resource areas. The pass is undergoing much repowering activity. The area has multiple generations of wind turbine technology installed, including both single and double blade turbines, as well as the more modern three blade horizontal axis design. The older generation turbines generate kilowatts, and the modern turbines installed generate up to 3 megawatts. A state initiative to upgrade the transmission out of Tehachapi (Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project) began in 2008 and is expected to be completed by 2012. This has opened the door to further regional wind power development and multiple projects are expected to be installed to utilize that capacity. Tehachapi is also notable for avian issues. It is the most likely area that California condors will be killed and has the world record setting golden eagle killing wind power plant. Time out in the North East Kingdom of Vermont. We are pleased to be joined by Kenn Stransky, the president of the Northeastern Vermont Development Association Board (NVDA). The NVDA just voted, almost unanimously, for a 3-year moratorium on wind development in the north east kingdom (NEK) area. We will ask Ken about what this means for the NEK now, what prompted the vote and why it received such strong support.

Wind Wise Radio will visit with folks fighting the scourge of industrial wind in some very special places, talk about the weeks headlines, and take listener calls.
There is a dangerous trend brewing as even precious unspoiled places with regional or world wide significance are being prospected and proposed for industrial scale wind development.
For example, this past week in California there was a vote to approve a project on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands, the Deerfield Wind project in Green Mountain National Forest is being fast tracked by the Feds, the Gallitzin State Forest in Pennsylvania is threatened by IWT. The country around the Grand Canyon is targeted for industrialization. On Lana’i and Molokai the storm clouds have gathered. The forces arrayed against these precious places are numerous, well funded, and well protected. We have only the truth and our voices.
Please join us Sunday for a conversation about big wind and the threat to precious places. We will be talking with leaders on Lana’i, on Molokai, and in Arizona’s Canyon Country who are all standing up to Big Wind’s deep pockets, greedy corporations, hordes of lobbyists, and misguided politicians.
Christopher P. Dunn, born 1946 in Manchester, England, is an English author known for the book The Giza Power Plant: Technologies of Ancient Egypt, which claims that precision machining is evident in ancient Egyptian structures, particularly in the Giza pyramid complex.
In this program, listeners will get an update on what Dunn has discovered in Egypt, and other ancients cities around the world.
Dunn was the manager of Laser Robotics Machining, which served the aerospace industry. In 1986 he was recruited by gas turbine/aerospace manufacturing company, Danville Metal Stamping, where he has worked in the position of Project Engineer, Laser Operations Manager and Human Resource Manager. He is a master craftsman and skilled machinist. Dunn lives with his wife Jeanne and children in Danville, Illinois
Dr. John Constable is the Director of the Renewable Energy Foundation (REF) an independent UK charity that publishes data and analysis on the energy sector . Dr Constable has been working in energy policy since 2004 and is known for his data-grounded view that current policy targets for renewables are infeasible, unaffordable, and almost certainly counterproductive. We will hear more about the debate surrounding the REF’s study that showed turbine performance deteriorating much more quickly with age than that claimed by the wind industry. The study was authored by Dr. Gordon Hughes. Dr Gordon Hughes is a Professor of Economics at the University of Edinburgh where he teaches courses in the Economics of Natural Resources and Public Economics. He was a senior adviser on energy and environmental policy at the World Bank until 2001. He has advised governments on the design and implementation of environmental policies and was responsible for some of the World Bank’s most important environmental guidelines. Naturally the wind industry is not taking this news well… For example, Windpower Monthly printed ”No big drop in performance as turbines get older” by David Milborrow. David Milborrow makes money as a technical adviser to the journal WindPower Monthly and to the BWEA and has an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from City University GB.
We will be talking about corporations who are supporting wind energy as a part of their business plan to increase their profits. Miriam Raftery, an award winning environmental journalist, will join Harley and Lisa to talk about this and more. We hope that listeners will dial in to join in the discussion.
Jimmy Salamone from Fairfield, NY has been living with turbines that have been found out of compliance with noise regulations. Iberdrola sent him a white noise machine and has installed special Noise Reducing Software on the turbines to mitigate the problem. Jimmy will be joining us later in the program to talk about the situation.
