Still think another round of elections can straighten out the mountain of messes that are piling up?
It appears two cops have been murdered in Texas. Another gunned down in Illinois.
At the same time, self-proclaimed activists are calling for police to "fry like bacon."
There are indications cops on the street are getting jumpy, some to the point of being very sloppy.
In Washington state, some university professors tried to ban words they deemed 'hate speech."
"Male" and "female" were among the words they wanted to ban.
The Left is giving itself an ulcer frettting about a court clerk in Kentucky who refuses to issue marriage licenses to gay couples. She's a government employee, and she has to follow the law, the Lefties say.
Have these advocates for "following the law" chimed in on Obama's selective enforcement of immigration law, or on Hillary Clinton's improper use of private email? Or how about the president's recent unilateral undoing century old legislation that named a mountain in Alaska?
Seems to us, the progressives in DC have set the standard for picking and choosing which laws matter.
How come progressives are getting bent out of shape when local officials adopt the same sort of practice and mindset?

I know that there are a lot of things that or wrong or need improvement. However, just complaining about something is not the answer unless you just like to hear the sound of your own voice. I once worked for an attorney and she said it's okay to complain but no one is really going to listen unless you come to the table with an offer of a solution. I agree with her and have lived by that idea ever since.
It has stopped me from complaining, not that there isn't a lot to complain about it's just that I don't always have an offer of what can be done to change the situation. Also getting upset about something and then doing nothing is more aggravating and less useful. Who needs high blood pressure or an ulcer?
Let's think about what is upsetting us and why and come up with some ideas for a solution to the problem. If you can't think of anyting than let the issue go because frankly I don't need the headache, the ulcer or the high blood pressure. It takes a lot of useless energy to complain.
I want a solution, I want results so the next time you get ready to complain about something try thinking about what is upsetting you and why and then address how you can change the circumstances.
We can apply this attitude to everything from service, to health care to personal arguments and the government. Get with it people and stop complaining there are a lot more things we can do with that energy.

Every first Wednesday of each month (always at noon, pst), our show is dedicated to bariatric, weight loss surgery, and weight loss topics. This week, my good friend Dagny Kight will be filling in as host for me. Dagny is an active health and wellness advocate and the author of Powerful Hunger.
Today's program is all about well-known sayings and what they mean to you, or how the make you feel, and we'd love for you to discuss this on the show. The phone line and live chat will be open that day, or you may leave comments on the blog here. Examples:
We've all heard "Diets don't work." What do you think most people think of when they hear that phrase? Do they take it literally? What does it mean to you?
.A widely-recommended weight loss strategy is "Think like a thin person." How does that make you feel? Do you think it's a legitimate strategy for losing weight? How DO thin people think??
When people hear "Weight is not an indicator of health" they often interpret that in different ways. What does it mean to you? What do you think most people believe it means?
What do you think people mean when they say "Weight loss surgery is the easy way out. It's cheating." Why do you think people use this as an insult? There are a lot of angles to consider with this one!
What does "Fat Acceptance" mean to you? It's closely associated with "Health at Every Size." The Association for Size Diversity and Health lays out specific principles for FA and HAES but they are interpreted many different ways. Tell us what they mean to you and how you think others view FA and HAES.

Dr. Yang has been involved in Chinese Kung Fu since 1961. He has taught seminars all around the world, sharing his knowledge of Chinese martial arts and Qigong. As a child, Dr. Yang learned much patience and endurance, growing up in Taiwan during the post World War II era. He came from a family of 9 children, and his family often went without food for days. Despite such hardships, Dr. Yang became one of the few students in his high school to attend college. He earned his B.S. in Physics from Tamkang University and his M.S. in Physics from National Taiwan University. In 1974, he moved to America to pursue a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, which he earned in 1978. Dr. Yang began training martial arts at the age of 15 under his White Crane master, Grandmaster Gseng, Gin-Gsao. After suffering a chronic ulcer for some time, Dr. Yang also began to study Tai Chi under Grandmaster Kao, Tao. From practicing Tai Chi and Qigong, Dr. Yang was able to make a full recovery from his ulcer. During his time at Tamkang College, Dr. Yang began to also train Long Fist under Grandmaster Li, Mao-Ching. Seeing the misconceptions of traditional Chinese arts and culture in America, Dr. Yang gave up his engineering career to dedicate his life to preserving the arts and educating the people about Chinese culture. Since 1982, he has systematically driven and developed an international martial arts organization of 55 schools in 18 different countries. Today, there are thousands of students worldwide in Yang's Martial Arts Association (YMAA). Dr. Yang has also written over 30 books. He founded YMAA Publications Center in 1984 to publish his extensive knowledge of martial arts and Eastern culture. YMAA Publications has since become a pioneer and leading standard in the martial arts community worldwide.

Hiking just over 1000 miles since the beginning of March, Brian has made many new friends and discoveries. The outward journey is obvious, the inward is not. The stigma of Neurofibromatosis (NF) has played a part in his life that few understand. Today we talk with Brian Caskey of Hiking for Wellness about both of the journey's.
Neurofibromatoses 2 is a rare disorder affects about 1 in 25,000 people. Approximately 50 percent of affected people inherit the disorder; in others the disorder is caused by a spontaneous genetic mutation of unknown cause. While it is not contagious people still see the small tumorous growths and are afraid that they can "catch" this disease.
Dealing with the stigma of looking different and having people shy away from you because you don't look like they do is nothing new. However, as a result of the limited exposure to individuals dealing with NF, understanding why they look different and the effects of NF is.
Join us as we look deeper into the inner journay taken by Brain and many AT Hikers.

It is so important to look closely at what surrounds you. I like to do my own lawn service. It gives me exercise and I feel close to nature. I have found myself looking more closely at what I had identified as "weeds" in my lawn and this inspection drove me to go to YouTube to see what herbist would say about some of the weeds that I had systematically sprayed or pulled out of my yard. What I thought would be a short visit to the computer became a webinar-like session.
As a physician, I was taught that there is no antedote to the brown recluse spider bite and the victim must endure much pain and a necrotizing ulcerative site until the "damage" ran its course. Well there is a weed call the ribwort or plantain grass that releases the pain of insect bites and heals ulcer lesions on lthe skin. This weed is very prevalent in Louisiana where brown recluse spiders are often a nuisance. It was the "ancient people" , "old wive's remedies" that treated what pharmaceutical companies can not so young clinicians perpetuate the myth that there is no treatment.
I am now energized at the idea of recovering what my Grandmother practiced and what my Mother referred to as Mother wit. The old-fashioned remedies have been discarded and needs to be revisited.
I started brewing a lemon grass tea that has replaced coffee in my diet and my blood pressure is superb. My age peers, including my sisters, ask me what medicines that I take for hypertension and I say none. In fact, I do not take any prescribed pharmaceuticals. I believe that food is a medicine. I do believe that we are what we eat.
I do not avocate becoming a fanatic, but I think that we need to stop and look at what nature has provided and some trying to make a "new and improved" version of everything. We need to get back to the basics. Maybe an astronaut needs to "eat" pills instead of food; I don't.
