Many have gotten to know Jon Jon from the award-winning group Troop, but his love of music has been with him all his life. He makes his first appearance on Conversations LIVE to discuss his musical journey with host Cyrus Webb, what it was like to perform at this year's BET Awards, what he hopes fans learned about him and the group through TV One's UNSUNG episode and what inspired the cover of Luther Vandross' single NEVER TOO MUCH.
While still in their teens, Steven Russell Harts, Allen McNeil, Rodney Benford, John Harreld, and Reggie Warren-AKA TROOP-scored big with their self titled Atlantic debut album, which yielded the #1 R&B hit, “MAMACITA,” and the top ten R&B tune “MY HEART”. Troop’s follow up album, 1989’s “ATTITUDE”, struck RIAA GOLD propelled by two #1 singles “SPREAD MY WINGS” and “ALL I DO IS THINK OF YOU.”
Entering a music industry that at the time already had the great success of other male R&B groups, Troop had their work cut out for them with distinguishing themselves from the rest, but from the moment they made their official entrance into the industry Troop quickly set themselves apart from other groups with their captivating harmony & explosive dance styles.
This internationally recognized R&B Sensation got their start in the late 80s after they won a televised talent contest called, “Puttin on the Hits” that drew interest from record labels & fans alike. Hailing from Pasadena, CA where they are still based, Troop was signed to Atlantic Records and released their debut single “Mamacita.” After reaching #1 on the Billboard R&B Charts it quickly established them as a group. Tune in to hear more :)

Gripes, we all have them. We all think "they" should change so we would feel better. How many times have you said, " If they would just do it my way..."? Sometimes we feel like we just can't hold it inside any more, so the griping gets bigger and bigger. It may not be the way we want it to be, but it can be better if we just choose differenly. So how do we turn griping into gratitude and/or appreciation? That's what we're going to discuss on today's show. Hope you can join us!
