NLP Techniques For Coping With Trauma

    in Environment

Trauma is a form of physical, sexual or psychological abuse, which has caused extreme stress and overwhelmed a person’s ability to cope. What one individual deems as a trauma may not be the same as another person’s, it is an individual’s subjective experience that determines whether an event is or is not traumatic. After experiencing a traumatic event, either as a child or an adult, some people are able to heal, move forward and live a fulfilling life. Listen to this segment of The NLP View Radio Show, as host, Donna Blinston RGN is joined by Pamela Gawler-Wright a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapist, Master and Certified Trainer in NLP, to discuss how NLP can address and resolve problems caused through trauma, resulting in anxiety, depression and addiction

    PTSlavery D: Acknowledging Our Trauma

    in Culture

Melanated Woman welcomes Larry Higginbottom MSW/LCSW,

Co-author of POST TRAUMTIC SLAVERY DISORDER and founder of the Osiris Group.   Larry Higginbottom says, "We have to acknowledge the trauma we've suffered, and then create a new world view and new world order. Healing comes with this new reality. Also, we have to get back to teaching people about economics, health, family, child rearing, nurturing and support. Then, we have to educate our children about how to keep our own power by creating our own opportunities. Our children and community will only do what they are conditioned to do, unless those ways are challenged or changed.

This is a show you can't miss.  Begin understanding why we (Afrikan Diaspora) think the way we do.

Dads Can Have Birth Trauma, Too?

    in Religion

When a mom has a traumatic birth - whatever that looks like for you - most of the focus is (understandably) on Mom and baby.  They both need that care to walk them through the aftermath of what just happened...but we've been forgetting someone:  Dad.  Dads can have trauma from a birth, too.  It may not look as obvious, but it can have a profound impact on the family.  Dr Pauline & Catherine discuss this often-overlooked, but extremely important topic during week 3 or Cesarean Awereness Month.  Mom & Dad would both benefit from this important show.

As always, we welcome your comments and questions through Facebook (Dunamas Center Ministries), and Twitter (@YourDunamasLife).

    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

We are officially moved into our new building at 2143 N Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80909!
Watch for Dr Pauline's new book "Won't Somebody Please Hear Me?  Healing from Birth Traumatomology Syndrome"...Coming soon!

    Healing From Trauma

    in Spirituality

Most, if not, all of us have been through some type of traumatic experience.

How do we deal with the pain from that experience?

Do we acknowledge it, or pretend we do not hurt?

Are we victims for the rest of our lives?

Can we heal from the pain, the hurt and the trauma?

Can we move past or through it?

Damali Robertson, filmmaker and social activist, discusses the "The Souls of Women" - a documentary that explores how women grow and heal from scarring life experiences.

Join Damali, Coach Seah and Dr Chan as they explore "Healing From Trauma" during the March episode of Growing Consciousness.
