In this segment, our guest, Tony Poletti, elaborates on his hope that the YMCA can remain a vital part of this community. He expressed the need to provide a venue for the children of the disadvantage families in this neighborhood. Mr. Colletti is a member of a group that is trying to save the YMCA. They are hoping to get the attention of city government as well as the community.

Joining Dr. Michelle Robin on Small Changes Big Shifts is David Byrd, CEO of the YMCA Kansas City. Byrd became just the ninth CEO in the 150 years of the YMCA of Greater Kansas City in August 2010, bringing more than 30 years of experience working for the Y in cities throughout the Southeast. This will be a follow up visit for Byrd who has exciting news on how the Y is changing to keep up with its clients and communities.

Stacy Pagos Haller is President and CEO of BrightFocus Foundation. She joined the organization (then known as American Health Assistance Foundation) in 2010, bringing more than 25 years of executive experience in the nonprofit sector.
With her extensive background and unique perspective, Haller has compiled an impressive record of moving organizations to the next level of success.
Before coming to BrightFocus, Haller served as Executive Director of CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation, the world’s largest children’s cancer research organization.
For ten years prior, Haller was a consultant to a broad range of nonprofits, helping institutions achieve their strategic goals. Clients included the American Red Cross, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Community Housing Foundation International, Gallaudet University, LaSalle University, Mercy Hospital Fairfield, The National AIDS Fund, YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, and the National Rehabilitation Hospital.
Haller helped create one of the first outcomes measurement training programs for nonprofits. She team-taught best practices for measuring program effectiveness to hundreds of professionals and organizations.
She launched her career at Georgetown University, where she held increasingly responsible jobs, culminating in the position of Executive Director for Regional Advancement. In that capacity, she led efforts to coordinate and integrate alumni affairs, development, and university relations nationally and internationally.
A graduate of Mount Holyoke College, Haller is a Board member of America’s Charities.

Commissioner Rosalynn Bliss began serving as Second Ward City Commissioner in January 2006, and was re-elected for a second term in November 2009. Commissioner Bliss is the Director of Residential Services at DA Blodgett - St. John's. St. John's Home provides emergency shelter and residential services for abused and neglected children.
Commissioner Bliss is an active member of our community. She is a board member of the YMCA, the Grand Rapids Youth Boxing Foundation, and Dyer-Ives Foundation. She serves as a member Uptown CID, the Kent County Land Bank Authority, the Fulton Street Farmer's Market Redevelopment Committee, and is a City Liaison with the Friends of GR Parks. Rosalynn has been recognized and honored locally as well as statewide for her commitment, dedication and work in the field of child abuse and neglect and her leadership in the community.

Arbor Grove engages in comprehensive, regional, and economic development strategic planning activities that necessitate different types of public outreach and participation.
Bretall is a board member of the Linwood YMCA and a graduate of the Kansas City Chamber’s Centurions leadership program and was recently appointed by Kansas City Mayor Sly James to the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority (PIEA). The PIEA fosters commercial and industrial development in specifically designated redevelopment areas and is one of just a handful of women in such a position.

Finance, a Small Business Entrepreneur in Property Management, Retirement Homes and Medical office management. She is a motivational and business Coach/consultant and Mentor. Patricia is a Feng Shui Level 3 Consultant and Reiki Master.
Along with her passion for learning, Patricia has been a dedicated community Volunteer. She is Co-founder of the Colours of Freedom Foundation supporting Children's Peace Initiatives. She holds Advisory positions in several organizations and foundations.
Patricia is a member of the Ontario Cabinet for the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Over the years she has been nominated for a variety of awards and recognitions including Woman of the Year, YMCA Peace Medal and recipient of the

Anthony Penn worked 33 years with the County of Los Angeles Fire Department and rose to rank of Fire Captain; Fire Camp Superintendent and a Fire Prevention Captain. Anthony has been affiliated with the YMCA for over 50 years and has served as Chairman of the Board of Managers for the Crenshaw Family YMCA. His service on the board and as volunteer camp counselor spans some 25 years. Captain Penn is a life member of the Stentorians (The Los Angeles County Black Firefighters Association). He has served as Southwest Regional Secretary of the International Association of Black Professional Firefighters.
