    About our guest: Althea Lawton-Thompson has a Business Administration degree and certifications in group exercise, personal training, and water fitness. She is also a 200 HR registered Yoga instructor. Her wellness consulting company, AYM Fitness, ran the fitness portion of the Johns Hopkins Hospital youth obesity program and created and managed a full exercise program for all 13 Atlanta Kaiser Permanente offices.


    Her internationally popular fitness video series, Altheatized, and published articles have been included in magazines like Best Body, Essence, Parenting, and Oxygen. In 2012, she was voted One of Atlanta's Best Yoga Teachers by Best Self Magazine. She is also the founder of a 501c3 nonprofit organization that offers free and low-cost fitness classes, medical screenings and health education.


    Currently, Althea hosts fitness and Yoga retreats in destinations like Puerto Rico, the Grand Canyon, and the Georgia Mountains, while the corporate wellness arm of her company provides fitness classes and health education to Fortune 500 companies based in Atlanta.


    This married mother of two balances family, business and life with Yoga, meditation, and travel.

    About our guest: Dr. Ruby Thomas received her medical degree and completed her medical training at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. She is board certified in Pediatrics and has specialized training in Preventive Medicine. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Preventive Medicine, and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Prior to joining MBS Wellness, she practiced urgent care in the metro Atlanta area and held a faculty appointment at Morehouse School of Medicine department of Pediatrics. Dr. Thomas continues to hold a part-time faculty position with the Department of Preventive Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine. Her clinical and educational interests include integrative medicine, motivational interviewing, healing with nutrition, and preventing childhood obesity.  Dr. Thomas is a native of Atlanta. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, reading and painting.

    She holds certifications in Qigong, Reiki, Nia, Far Infrared Onnetsu Therapy, and holistic health from the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She is a member of the International Women’s Writing Guild.
