The average life span of any type of salon is pretty short. So it takes some pretty savvy business smarts to have a successful skin care salon.
Justin interviews Elizabeth Burr, owner of the very successful skin care salon, Elizabeth Skin Care in Studio City, California.
Elizabeth has been in business for almost 20 years and has loved every minute. But she started her business out of very unique needs.
"I was a successful actress for many years until I developed adult onset acne while on a soap opera. Having acne is humiliating enough, but going through it on TV with producers and fans was devastating.
Despite the efforts of several doctors, nothing cleared my skin until an esthetician treated me. She gave me a series of peels in her salon and changed my home care routine. I was embarrassed about my appearance before she cleared me up. And when she did, it changed my life. Once my skin was clear again I said, “I want to do this!” Since then I have been happy educating myself and my clients as we practice great skin care together."

Your skin is an organ of elimination. If any of your primary organs of elimination, such as the liver, are clogged or sluggish, your body will attempt to eliminate toxins through the skin. If your body is carrying too many toxins, elimination becomes inefficient, and the toxic lymph fluid will be stored just under the skin. Again, your body may attempt to release these toxins through the skin.
Spring is here and (hopefully!) we are spending more time out in the sun. This is an opportune time to take a look at our skin care regimes and think about protection from the sun. How do we select the product that is right for us? Is last year’s bottle of sunscreen still good? We are another year older….and so is our skin. How can we enjoy our time outdoors and still be good to our skin?
