Tonight PWR SLAM! goes back to the early days of cable TV when Ted Turner put his shows on at 5 and 35 after the hour "so you can see how boring everyone else's stuff is then come watch MY shows". In those days, the whole nation was starting to turn to something called Super 17 on Saturday night starting at 6:05 P.M. Eastern for a little show called "Georgia Championship Wrestling". At that time, the Georgia territory, owned and run by Ole Anderson, was part of the National Wrestling Alliance when it was still a powerhouse and part of the Big 3 along with Verne Gagne's AWA and a little promotion then run by Vince McMahon Sr. called the World Wrestling Federation.
The roster was one of the top groups of its time, from the enhancement guys such as George South, Alabama Jr. Heavyweight Champion Mike Jackson and The Mulkey Brothers to the top stars, NWA World Champion Nature Boy Ric Flair, Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy, who were feuding at the time, Tommy "Wildfire" Rich and many more. Among that group were two good old Southern boys who definately were "rasslers", Joel Deaton and Bob Cook.
Joel Deaton was working as a personal trainer when Lars Anderson took him under his wing and trained him for an in ring career. Aftera short stint in Anderson's promotion Joel left for his first stint at GCW. He not only wrestled as Joel Deaton, he put on a mask and wrestled as Thunderfoot, where he was managed by the legendary James J. Dillon. Joel has been with us on our Promoter's Roundtable and was part of our Anniversary, but this will be his first featured appearance.
Joining Joel will be another stalwart from those Georgia days, Bob Cook. Bob is also a protege of Professor Boris Malenko so his heritage is stellar. We will discuss his beginnings in the ring, wrestling new WWE Hall Of Fame member Sting and donning a familiar mask.
Questions will be taken by Skype or (347) 826-9418.

December 28, 2015- R&B songstress Demetria McKinney releases her new single and video featuring singer/songwriter Kandi. The song titled "Unnecessary Trouble" premiered last night on Season 8 of Bravo TV's Real Housewives of Atlanta where McKinney made a guest appearance. The video was directed by famed photographer Derek Blanks and features RHOA alumni Claudia Jordan.
Regarding the inspiration of the song and video, Demetria had this to say, "Unnecessary Trouble" came from the drama of season 7 of RHOA regarding not only my relationship with my boyfriend, but also the murmurs about Kandi and Todd's relationship. The song is an anthem made to remind people that relationships have to be figured out between the people in the relationship.
McKinney is widely known for her role as “Janine Payne” on the hit TBS sitcom “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne,” which has taped over 254 episodes and received five NAACP Image Awards for Best Sitcom. After her stint with season 7 Real Housewives of Atlanta the eOne Music recording artist has been keeping busy touring with the Pepsi Funkfest and opening for R. Kelly on his Black Panties tour.
Demetria's gut wrenching ballad “Trade It All” is currently on the Urban AC charts and her club and radio hit single titled “100.” skyrocketed to #4 and is currently on the iTunes R & B charts. "100” is a hip hop infused women’s anthem featuring one of the rap genre’s first ladies - Da Brat.
Kandi Burruss is a singer-songwriter, television personality, occasional actress, record producer and a former member of the group Xscape.. Kandi will also serve as executive producer on Demetria McKinney's upcoming LP "Officially Yours".
Birthing in the early 1960s with such works as Astro Boy and Gigantor, the art of Japanese animation arrived on domestic shores not long after. Things would change radically as we moved into the 1970s and such widely beloved cult series as Yamato (Star Blazers), Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets) and Macross (Robotech), even in their somewhat bowlderized and sanitized variants aired Stateside, blew the minds of kids accustomed to Hanna Barbera/Filmation/Warner Brothers style fluff with their comparative realism and mature themes (inclusive of such heady matters as interracial relationships, real-world style romances, character deaths and more)!
Becoming a genuine underground cult craze among the youth of the 1990's, such late 70's/80's era space operas as Mospeada, Megazone 23, Dirty Pair and Bubblegum Crisis were joined by the syndicated television likes of Rumiko Takahashi (Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2), Akira Toriyama (Dragonball), Voltron and Naoko Takeuchi (Sailor Moon), opening the floodgates for a proliferation of anime magazines, late night/Saturday AM blocks on networks like TBS, TNT and Sci-Fi Channel, and entire stores dedicated to the sale of anime and related materials.
With the dawn of "meta" series such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, the "harem anime" (starting with Tenchi Muyo) and crossovers to the tabletop and videogame RPG (Slayers, Dragon Half, etc.), anime went from comparative obscurity and often isolated, small-scale fanbases to a global phenomenon overnight.
Join us as we talk the days of actual hand drawn, boundary-pushing animation, with nigh-adversarial relations between original language subtitle fans and the dubbing-only crowd, where fans would gather together based on a dawning appreciation of what remains many steps above the standard domestic, toddler oriented cartoon.
What up 9MIND Sacred Sistuhs and Others? Peace, prosperity, excwllen health and wisdom be upon we and those love 4ever. Tonight we will continue talking about how Black Media and Images are (always) used to program Blacks (African Americans) and Coloreds (mulattos) while enriching and expanding the wealth and empires of non Black Kabals globally. Many who had already enriched themselves in the trafficking and enslavement of Brown, Black, Yellow and White flesh. Many have sought to be free from exploitation and control but for some reason we called Black/AA (enjoy) being OWNED by everyone but ourselves.
And I would simply like to know WHY?
Again I will offer my 9MIND perspective on why it is in 2015 the richest and wealthiest Black Americans in the world have (no) Blak Media of their own that rivals the Media Corporations such as NBC, CBS, ABC, TBS, CNN, MTV, BET, Viacom, ect... that they certainly love to work for? Now the exception would be a station called BOUNCE but it confines itself only to current and vintage Blk movies. Not any news format that discuss Blk issues and situations that pertain (only) to those of BlK hue. Now I do watch Bounce from time to time but it is clear to me that this station is there so the early BLACKLOITATION MOVIES that helped program Black Americans into base behavior and endless negative sterotypes that we still promote and face TODAY will forever be seen and memorialized. WOW, TV, a invention we are now addicted to and we assumed was our (friend) but has been strategically used to destroy the self esteem of Blk men, Blk women and program our Blk children and distort our true purpose for existing and most of all ONENESS. Alright then, Let's get it innn.....
