    in Books

Two men. Two eternal destinies. One common hope. College grad Nick doesn't’t trust God. Unimpressed by God’s work in his father’s life, Nick wages a daily war to thwart His holy advances. No verbal blasts. No waving God is dead! banners. Just a simple message written across his heart. “God, you’re not welcome here.”Wayne, former pastor and current factory employee, drifts in doubt’s strong current. He’s God’s man, all right. He just hasn't’t felt like it in a while. A past failure holds his heart hostage.
On a beautiful Thursday in May, death’s specter burns both men’s names into its appointment book. Each embarks on an amazing journey—one doused in dread, the other dripping with delight. As heaven’s light shines, a troubled Wayne wants to hide in the dark. Will he overcome doubt’s drift to sail Home in confidence? Nick, lost in hell’s night, can’t escape God’s searchlight. His memories force him to reevaluate his father’s weakness and the strength of his father’s God. For Nick, will regret become an itch he will have all eternity to scratch?

    Neal Sterling

    6'3/239

    WR

    Monmouth

Sterling an invitee to the Gridiron Showcase was the surprise receiver of the game. The small-school prospect rised above the other players from large FBS schools to establish himself as one of the more interesting kids to follow through the NFL Draft process.

His combination of size and ability helped him man handle defensive backs and he showed a great knack for adjusted to the ball for a catch. Especially for a player his size.

Hattie Neal and Mary Neal Discuss Historical Events

    in Politics Progressive

My mom, Hattie Neal, is 92 now. She and I discussed events from her youth in the 1920's and 30's all the way up to the civil rights movement in the 1960s. We talked about what it was like to grow up in the rural South with her brothers, who went to CC Camp and later migrated North to Detroit. We discussed Tent City in Fayette County, Tennessee, which was a settlement former Black sharecroppers who were evicted by angry white landowners when they registered to vote. At the end of this tape, my mother shares interesting news about a KKK march through our neighborhood that you probably never heard about or imagined.

It was delightful to spend time this evening conversing with Mama instead of making reports about recent brutality and deaths under the color of law that I normally discuss. Alexyss K. Tylor did not broadcast at Human Rights Demand tonight as scheduled, but Mama and I had a grand time. You are invited to play the tape and join us.

T Pain "The Iron Way" Live Mixtape Review

    in Music

Few people can accurately say they’ve changed the course of music; count T-Pain among that short list. His bright, polished arrangements have become the in-demand sound across genres, and his scene-stealing vocal performances are among the most coveted in music. Since bursting on the scene in 2005, T-Pain has been awarded a Grammy, produced and written a plethora of chart-topping and platinum-selling singles, garnered "Songwriter of the Year" and "Producer of the Year" honors at the BMI Urban Awards and earned a BET Award. So it should come as little surprise that the musical maestro’s tremendous, self-produced third album, THR33 RINGZ, stands as a sonic odyssey brimming with innovation.

Indeed, T-Pain can speak from that perspective because he knows what it is like to struggle. His Tallahassee, Florida hometown was lacking music industry opportunities and connections, so the man born Faheem Najm chose the T-Pain moniker to signify his plight. He taught himself how to make music, write songs and record music.

T-Pain’s use of the vocoder made his music stand out, and his prolific, high-quality output turned him into one of music’s most oft-imitated and in-demand producers, singers and collaborators. His first two albums, 2006’s Rappa Ternt Sanga and 2007’s Epiphany, have been certified gold, thanks to hit singles such as “I’m N Luv (Wit A Stripper)” and “Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin’).” He has also collaborated with Kanye West (Good Life), Chris Brown (“Kiss Kiss”) Flo Rida (Low) Plies (Shawty) and Bow Wow (“Outta My System”) for platinum singles.
