Professor Gregg Hammond~ Musician, Mentor, Guitar Teacher, Philanthropist, Author. Born in DC Gregg's family moved away in the late 60's to escape the violence of the riots. The move landed him in the Florida Keys where he grew up and learned to live in the natural surroundings, worked teaching fishing, snorkeling, & exploring in the backcountry islands of the Keys. Hurricane's destroyed his guitar studio and then his home. With his dog and a guitar, he began a journey to find a larger purpose for his life. He traveled highways and wilderness mountains, searching for his truth. Returning to DC in 2002, Gregg experienced violence in the streets. His father and he were randomly attacked by a gang of kids in 04. Held at gunpoint by teens in 05, and nearly ambushed again from another gang in 06. These experiences compelled him to take action to make a difference. He founded GNG DC, and volunteers his time, wearing many hats within the charity to keep it going. He has witnessed miracles in the classroom. His VISION includes bringing the world together, all playing the same song at the same time, featuring many of the Guitars Not Guns students up on the stages with great musicians like Paul McCartney, U2, Ben Harper, and Sting to mention a few on the list.
When our service members are diagnosed with either PTSD or TBI, or just a simple cold, the Veterans Administration's immediate response is to prescribe drugs. Joining me on the show is John Keith, former Navy Firefighter, and founder of OIF Veterans Community, a group of veterans determined to help their fellow veterans find answers to the many questions they're asking everyday. John is a survivor of the lethal cocktail and he will gladly tell you the horror stories he endured while taking VA perscribed drugs; most importantly, he'll tell you how he got off them. Assignment tells the stories of America, from history, military, politics, social and economic, to entertainment - the things you never thought about to the trivia you never knew.

Please join host Jason Wade Taylor/Randy Hahn LIVE @ 10:00pm EST for three hours of hard hitting Conservative radio. Does Social Media Promote Violence is tonight’s topic, and question.
I often say that social media is a powerful monster and with power, comes responsibility. If you use it for constructive means, it pays off. If you don’t get it right, you pay for it. Though it’s hard to believe, social media has been directly or indirectly associated with a large number of incidents related to violence, terrorism and uprisings all over the world.
If terrorism requires an audience, then the recent mainstream adoption of social media may be giving violent actors a bigger stage than ever before. There are many reasons people lash out at the world, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest that becoming the center of the attention could be a factor pushing some to commit atrocities. Our retweets could be delivering their messages of fear, and how much of a role has it played in the recent actions in the middle east.

As long as people of African decent have been in this country we as a whole, and our young people in particular have been faced with danger on a daily basis. This danger comes in many forms, substandard food and living conditions, poor education and of course crime. Crime from outside our community and crime within it, and it is the latter that we will focus on this week, the things we are doing to each other that hold our community back and threaten our future. Our young people, ages 18-35, hold the key but right now their hand is shaky. As always we have the answers and can heal ourselves, however, time is of the essence and we must get started.
