Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world, and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. This week we talk about the unsung heros of film and movies: the stuntman! Yes that's right, every kindergardener's dream job, right in between astronaut and cowboy. To help us understand what goes into the death defying and underappreciated work of stunts, we talk to Mike Mayhall, a career stunt performer and coordinator who also just happens to have written and directed his first feature "Jake's Road" with Eric Roberts, available online and on demand now! Also, Mark E walks us through the Nobility premeire (yes, it finally was premiered, sort of) and everything else he saw at Comikaze on Halloween.
On this episode, we will be talking to Actor, Stuntman and Performer (singing) Troy Fromin, from his TV work (Just The Ten Of Us (1990), Perfect Strangers (1991), The Wonder Years (1992), Saved By The Bell (1992), Married With Children (1995)) as well his work in the genre, including such titles a Return of the Living Dead II (1988), Phantasm II (1988), Monster High (1989), Class of Nuke 'Em High II: Subhumaniod Meltdown (1991), Shrunken Heads (1994), Class of Nuke 'Em High III: The Good, The Bad and the Subhumanoid (1994) and more!
We will be reviewing Scream Factory's Special Edition Blu-Ray Release of Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings as well as Verite Cinema's Volumes of Blood!
We will also be featuring Satan's Wrath and their most recent CD Die Evil in our Metal Blade Spotlight!

Philippe Petit thinks of his tightrope performances as art. Taking on a high-wire task himself, Robert Zemeckis, retelling Petit’s most famous walk, creates his own art, with a 3D mastery that is nothing but depth defying and beautifully sweat provoking.
Yes, this is the story of Petit’s notorious walk between the just built towers of New York City’s World Trade Center. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, balancing the Frenchman’s arrogance and lithe charm, plays the ambitious stuntman and much of the early part of the film focuses on how Petit learned his craft and then, collected the people and plans to help him, almost literally and certainly illegally, walk on air. All of this is handled with a light grace, along with a few comic moments. We know we’re all building up to ‘the walk’, a feat every viewer knows was actually accomplished. So how does Zemeckis grab us? It’s visual. And what visual.
A mass appeal movie that proclaims it’s going to ‘science the shit out of this’? Go figure: this genuinely thrilling sci-fi thriller about smart people is also sensational entertainment.
Ridley Scott’s savvy spin on the best selling novel begins as a team of astronauts high tail it off of Mars, escaping an impending dust storm. One of their own has been killed in the evacuation and the long ride home is sad and sober. What they don’t know is that the man they left behind, their friend, is actually very much alive.

Drew holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Medical Technology/Biomedical research from the State University of New York at Fredonia, a Master of Science degree in Immunology / Medical Biology from the C. W. Post campus of Long Island University, and a Post Masters Certification in Science Education from Dowling College.
After years of being a laboratory supervisor for North Shore University Hospital, he began teaching science at Amityville Memorial High School in New York, right down the street from the famous Amityville Horror house. Studying the martial arts under Renshi George Santiago, he is now a Sensei at Master Santiago's Bushido Karate dojo in Islip, New York. He has been a stuntman in the Long Island Produced "A Merry Little Christmas." He was in a fight scene playing a squid with an axe in "Cold Feet, Wet Dreams, and the Kitchen Sink."
Writing and BSing have always been a hobby for Drew. He likes to take the world of science and throw a monkey wrench into its thought process. He feels that nobody knows it "all", and loves to prove it. Teaching high school biology and forensic science for Syracuse University has proven more rewarding than lab work.
