  • Talking in Circles: Bojangles Southern 500 Preview; Bristol Wrap Up

    in Sports

On tonight's episode we'll discuss the rebirth of tradition. One of the Crown Jewel Races returns back to a date where it NEVER should have left. Ladies and Gents, it's Labor Day Weekend, and for all you good ol' boys and girls out there, that means Darlington, South Carolina. It's going to be a throwback weekend. Throwback paint schemes and throwback announcers, throwback tires even. Going to be a boat load of fun.

After a weekend off to catch our breathe, and recharge our batteries for a 12 week run to the Championship, Clayton and Brandon return to the set of Talking in Circles to bring you this episode which will be packed with its usual no BS take no prisoners approach to the greatest sport in the World. But this week, it's double the punch after a weekend off. So they'll wrap up Bristol, and last weekend's events for trucks and Xfinity.

Also, Brandon and Clayton will give their perspectives on their favorite paint schemes of the new throwback paint schemes as well as what kind of racing they think we'll be seeing in Darlington.

Also, they'll talk about which 4 drivers they think 11 weeks from now will be competing for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Also, is it Dale Earnhardt, Jr's best shot to win a title, or has that ship sailed?

And a study was published about the most mentioned NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers in 2015. They'll dive into that.

As well as a team owner and driver and sponsor going to court. It's not the first time, and won't be the last.

Also, a driver swap at BK Racing,

And John Harlow will join the show at 11:30 as well to give us the latest in the Tony Stewart v. Kevin Ward, Jr. saga and his opinion on other topics as well.

And much more, as well as your phone calls at 919-887-8280, call to join the conversation.

  • Conservative Refuge Radio: 8/17/2015

    in Politics Conservative

    On this installment:

Governor Hogan announces a new policy that removes Maryland from being a sanctuary for illegal immigrants.  We'll discuss.
A recent article stated that almost 30% of self-styled "conservatives" could not define what that term actually means.  We'll convene class to discuss just what an American conservative really is.
The Anne Arundel County executive, "himself a recreational cyclist", has named a commission to discuss ways the county can expand both recreational and commuting cycling.  Are bicycles a good answer to the county's transportation problems.  I will have some views not likely to be heard on the executive's new commission.
We open the "Fat Files" to discuss a recent Reason article chronicling how the Federal Government's dietary advice has often been wrong and yet these same bureaucrats want more and more control over what you eat.

Talking Motorcycles with Yamaha's Keith McCarty - Hall of Fame Inductee

    in Sports

Keith McCarty joined Yamaha in 1977 and currently oversees the company's US racing operations. He will be inducted in the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in October.Yamaha's Keith McCarty will be inducted to the AMA Motorcycle Hall on October 17 in Orlando, Florida, as part of the 2015 AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame induction ceremony held in conjunction with the annual AIMExpo at the Orange County Convention Center.

Keith McCarty's first job as a motorcycle mechanic was for US Suzuki in 1973 for rider Mike Runyard. In 1975-76, he wrenched for AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Tony DiStefano, winning two 250cc AMA National Motocross Championships. When the motocross schedule didn't conflict, he worked with the Hall of Fame duo of Erv Kanemoto and Gary Nixon in road racing.

In January, 1977, McCarty began his long career with Yamaha as the mechanic for AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Legend Bob "Hurricane" Hannah. McCarty has remained in Yamaha's racing division ever since, working as mechanic, supervisor, department manager and, most recently, division manager for all of Yamaha's US racing activities.

Cameron Beaubier and Josh Hayes join us with stories and examples of who Keith McCarty is and how he has impacted their lives and their careers. They are but two talented riders of many that Keith has aided and assisted in their growth and personal development as professional motorcycle racers.

We are excited to have Keith on the show and I am certain it will be both entertaining and informative!
