LIVE! with Cathi---Choiceless Life & Excuses!

    in Fitness

We cannot live a CHOICELESS LIFE.  Every day, every moment, every second, there is CHOICE.  If it were not so we would not be individuals.

Freedom of CHOICE is overshadowed by what we think  we should do, what others expect us to do or OUR OWN FEAR OF MAKING BAD CHOICES.

Focusing on whatever we dislike empowers it...when we change out thinking to seeing the POT-OF-GOLD at the end of the rainbow, excuses no longer exist.

How many times when you've asked a person who's down and asked what would make him/her feel better, the answer, "I don't know what would make me feel better"...I guess God just didn't want me to have my dream followed by a litany of everything that's wrong....excuses, excuses, excuses !

    STAY TUNED...

If you don't follow your dream, who will...etc.

Do you get lost in the drama...tc.

There is a solution to every problem...etc.

    No guts, No glory...etc.

    Your GREATEST FREEDOM...etc.

SPECIAL TOPIC Night - OPEN MIKE SHOW - "For Our Kids" - Deborah Maddison and Tracy Baxter, Canadian activists from British Columbia, will join Bill Murray to lead this evening's discussion about the Rights of Children and Families in North America. This will be an open topic, Q & A discussion-style show, one without as clearly defined specific issues as our regular "For Our Kids" episodes. The "open mike" style show is looser than the planned ones we've been doing in this series, but we're hoping to attract call-in participants who wish to talk about their experience in dealing with "the system." Many of the institutions designed to serve and protect our children are in need of close scrutiny and examinations. Others are, in fact, denying the civil rights of our children. Some may need to be dismantled completely, replaced with organizations that actually have the needs of our kids, not themselves, at their core. There's been a lot of unnecessary suffering due to the fact that many such groups have commonly operated in an almost untouchable position in North America for decades, as if they were "above the law" .. and this has to stop. ~~ We're pleased "For Our Kids" co-host Deborah Maddison will be back for the next show. ~~ Every two weeks a new THEME will be presented in this series, with frequent special guests speaking from their own experience. ~~ Please see our web page at: www.NAASCA.org/ForOurKids or write to: naasca.forourkids@gmail.com

No More Excuses for Not Having Strong Bones

    in Health

Join Partners in Health and Biz talk show host Gail Dixon this Saturday, June 27, at 9:00 a.m. as we discuss "How to Have Beautiful Bones without Hormones." You have no more excuses for not having strong bones.

Did you know that currently, forty-four million people in the U.S. have mild osteopenia, or thinning bones, and 10 million men and women have full-blown osteoporosis.

While it is true that women are more susceptible to this condition than men, you might be surprised to learn that one out of every four American men over sixty-five will suffer a broken bone in his lifetime because of osteoporosis, and one third of all men over seventy-five currently have osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is a killer. At the very least, it can be a crippler. When your bones become too weak or brittle to handle the stresses of everyday life, they begin to break down internally and then to just plain break, often when you least expect it.  There you are, walking down a sidewalk in February, you slip and fall on a patch of snow-covered ice, and wham, you've fractured your arm and have to flag down a neighbor to help you back into the house.

    Tune in to learn more.

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1163

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Justin Hoekman from Chicago, a returning NAASCA family member. Justin endured a childhood filled with sexual, physical, mental, verbal and emotional traumas. As an infant, Justin was adopted into a Christian Reform family of foster parents, and a younger sister was adopted when he was a toddler. Sexual abuse and molesting began when he was 3, and his 13 year-old cousin "played doctor" with him starting at the age 6. When he was 10 he was sexually abused by a family friend. This abuse went on for 2 1/2 years. Justin's dad physically abused him for a decade and he has vague memories of his dad sexually abusing him as well. His mother often witnessed his father's physically abuse but did nothing to stop it. Justin left the house at 17, but he'd begun using drugs to escape the reality of his home. "I have always felt less than, unimportant, and have hated myself for a long time," said Justin. "Currently, it is difficult for me to trust others. I am diagnosed with chronic depression and anxiety." But he now works the 12 step Narcotics Anonymous program, and has a wonderful therapist. "While I am no longer in contact with my parents, my sister and I remain very close. As a child when my dad was beating me, my sister was my saving grace, she would scream and my dad would stop." After working on himself for a number of years Justin's made great progress and hopes to return to school to become and LCSW, a therapist with his own practice. As he says, "I would like to help in anyway I can whether that be a child advocate, helpline, sharing my story, or anything else." He goes on, "All of the horrible things I endured I believe happened so that I may help other overcome and be a survivor of childhood abuse."

How To Stop, And Recover From, A Binge

    in Weight Loss

I order to become seriously overweight, I had to engage in some serious overeating.  Bread, sweets, and chips were my downfall, and even when they stopped providing me with any real enjoyment I couldn't stop until the bags and cartons were empty.

Even though I've been at a healthy weight for more than seven years now, I can still be caught off guard, and end up consumed by sugary, starchy, salty, snacks.

In this episode of The Sugar Freedom Show I descroibe how I get off of the sugar train, and I hope that my story can help you if you ever find yourself in the middle of a bout of serious, unwanted overeating.  In addition, I share the foods that help me recover from the terrible junk food hangover I always get as a result of eating my trigger foods.  My entire eating program, which helped me manage my food addiction and get to a healthy weight, is available at www.sugarfreedom.com.  For more information, free sample meal plans, and recipes, take the sugar addiciton quiz at www.sugarfreedom.com/blog.
