"DON'T STOP NOW"
"The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground". (EXODUS 14; 15-16)
We will discuss how to encourage positive judgments that enhance the group dynamic and lead to a successful outcome.
As usual, we will also discuss two delicious recipes for sharing. The "safe" recipe will be Orange Almond Chicken and the "adventure" recipe will be Pork Stroganoff.

WHY DO WE CHEAT ON YOUR WIFE?
WHY DO WE STEAL?
WHY DO WE QUIT OUR JOB?
WHY DO WE DO BAD BEHAVIOR? WHY?
NEXT QUESTION........HOW DO WE STOP DOING THE "BAD" BEHAVIOR
You know that you should exercise, and eat lots of veggies and less fried, salty and sweet foods.
But knowing something and actually doing it are two very different things.
You know you should stop procrastinating. You know you should watch less TV or go to social sites (or news sites, or your email program) less often. You know you should be writing, or learning that language you’ve always wanted to learn, or practicing guitar, or decluttering your house.
Knowing isn’t the problem. It’s the doing that gets us every time.

You can change your story….
This week’s episode of Life Interrupted Radio is about secrets, misplaced shame and coming through it all to live your gifts and bring light into the world. When I first met our guest she had me laughing with the quote; “it takes a lot of energy to be miserable…” it sure does, that’s why I encourage you to join me, Sharon Sayler, host of Life Interrupted Radio when I interview Dr. Anita Sanchez.
Dr. Sanchez was born into a large family (120 first cousins) and she is proud of her Mexican American and Native American cultures. Today, she bridges her extensive knowledge of indigenous wisdom with modern leadership skills to bring together the hearts and minds of the leaders she works with.
Anita grew up with a life full of secrets, as she shares, “feeling like I was living two lives.” As a young girl, Anita realized that despite growing up surrounded by violence and feeling shame and guilt as only a little child can carry, she knew it was an illusion that it was two lives…it was her life!
Anita’a deepest passion is to share with you how to:
• listen with the “softest part of your ear,”
• guide the words you put to the wind,
• lead with the natural gifts you are given,
AND create a “magical” transformation of the hearts and heads of those around you.

Tonight's special guest is Paul Rieker from Temecula, California, an abuse survivor who's doing a study of PTSD. He's seeking the mechanism by which we can take control of our emotional assignments to the past. Re-arranging the priority of our dreams appears to be the key to placing joy and optimism where there was once anger and fear, and to replace our dwelling on the past. A troubled childhood included a severe beating by his father at 6 years old. Paul relates, "He was screaming, "I wish you were never born." This event created many problems for me in my life, into adulthood. It caused an "ADHD" symptom." Paul says, "We hear from therapists, that psychological development is damaged with trauma. This is true. In many ways, I stopped my development." He goes on, "In therapy, this situation came open. Dan Roden, who introduced me to the process which I am now terming "Abreaction, Desensitization and Emotional Reframing, changed the memory of this trauma." Paul continues, "I spent 12 hours, in trance therapy. Within the 12 hours of that 2 weeks, I was healed of my multiple emotional fixations which where the underlying cause of my suicidal fixation." Eventually he became certified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, of American Council of Hypnotist Examiners, and now provides therapy for all types of trauma. Paul believes the model of 1 hour of therapy per week, per the Insurance Payment Plans, is insufficient and not the best process for healing. It's his opinion that therapy should be 2-3 hour sessions, with 4 or 5 sessions occurring within 30 days, so the problems are solved. In his experience a reduction of PTSD symptoms by 50% is possible in 30 days, with 5-20 hours therapy.

Tonight's special guest is Barbara Hughes from Sewanee, TN, a survivor and activist who wrote a book about child sexual abuse called, "Enfolded in Silence/A Story in Art of Healing from Sexual Trauma in Childhood" Born in New York City, Barbara was assaulted between 3 and 9 years old and says she lived a childhood in denial of her sexual abuse which included sexual torture. "I hid my trauma from everyone, including myself," she writes, "but was very fearful, shy, and acted out my abuse on myself. I grew up and had a career as a sculptor, raised two boys, and got into 12 Step recovery. Before that, I got involved with toxic and abusive men." She explains, "In my 40's, I started having body memories, and in therapy, remembered my repeated trauma, over the process of years. I had an art therapist who was willing to re-mother me in the boundaries of therapy. I was very angry at God." Among other things she did extensive EMDR and turned a corner in her healing. "My abuse is no longer a stone in my heart." She continues, "It has a place of honor inside me, but is at peace. I have had many healers and I am thriving and very grateful." Finally, she wrote her book, and did presentations with images about abuse and healing. "I now facilitate a support group for women survivors of child abuse (ASCA). I continue my art work and volunteer at a food bank. My marriage survived my healing process and we have a good, loving relationship now. I have grandchildren. Family is very important to me. I continue to find venues where I can show and tell about the devastation of child sexual abuse and about how you heal."

Tonight's special guest is Jay Lore from Laurel. Maryland, child abuse survivor and author of the book "Sometimes You Lose, Sometimes You Learn: How I went to a party one night for twenty years and lived to tell about it." Jay is transgendered from woman to man, and agrees this was a part of his recovery, of "being comfortable living inside his own skin." That wasn't always the case. "I was 4 years old when it started, I don't know at what age the physicality stopped. I was 32 when I first spoke it out loud to someone." Because of the abuse, Jay turned to drugs early on. "I did my first drugs at age 11. LSD, to be exact. It escalated from there. In group my councilor used to get me to read my drug list because it was so extensive and there were things she'd never heard of. There were three suicide attempts. "I was a cutter. I loved the feel of the blade, the sting as it pierced my skin, the pain told me I was able to feel .. something. I lost my kids." Eventually Jay called an 800 drug line. That was in 1987, and Jay's been clean now for over 28 years. "I've been telling my story every chance I get," he says, "to anyone who will listen and some who don't want to hear it." He offers his book for free. Jay now lives with his oldest daughter and her family. He attends and serves at church faithfully. "It's about reaching that one someone that needs to hear my story as only I can tell it. To get that one to realize there is hope and love and light. And most importantly, that they need never walk alone again."
