STOP THE EMOTIONS AND OWN YOUR SPACE

    in Education

Rene and Donna Earley discuss the effects of the deaths of our family pets at the hands of the public servants who are meant to protect us. What can we do to stop it? What can we do once we are a victim to it? We can't bring our animal back, but we can use their death as a catalyst for change. We The People have to take back our space, property and lives. It CAN AND WILL HAVE TO BE DONE!! This information is good for any victim of a public servant.

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1031

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Mike Pistorino from Cleveland, OH, a survivor of childhood sexual abuse who's now using his voice as a motivational speaker and advocate against child abuse and trauma. As a young child growing up in the Bronx, neglected by his parents, Mike was easy prey for a local predator, their neighbor. He was sexually abused for years, and for years he believed that the rapes he suffered were proof that he was "bad" - that there was nothing good or redeemable in him. Mike grew up an angry man, addicted to cocaine, sleeping in the streets and doing stints in jails and prisons. But he found within himself a spark, a long buried but still living source of hope and will. At age 28, with the help of the Daytop Village therapeutic community, and after several false starts, Mike broke the grip of his addiction. Freed from its clutches, he built a life. He met his wife, Cynthia, on a New York City subway and a year later they were married. As his oldest daughter reached the age at which he was abused, Mike found himself wrestling with his memories. He sought help from the Cleveland rape crisis center, overcame his fears, and began the real work of confronting the abuse he had suffered, and its legacies .. the self blame, the anger, the bone-deep belief that he did not deserve to be happy. Mike was finally able to tell someone about the abuse he had suffered. By facing his painful past, Mike was able to discover authentic joy and a purpose. Today, he is a successful businessman, devoted family man, fitness enthusiast, marathoner, and public speaker. He is passionate about sharing his story in order to empower survivors and stop the epidemic of child sexual abuse. Learn more about Mike: www.mikepistorino.com

SPECIAL TOPIC Night - "For Our Kids" - Deborah Maddison and Tracy Baxter, Canadian activists from British Columbia, will join Bill Murray to lead this evening's discussion about the Rights of Children and Families in North America. Tonight's TOPIC: We are supposed to believe children when they allege someone has been sexually inappropriate with them. In reality, however, it seems we are not listening. Are we as a society and with our institutions creating the child sexual abuse pandemic? What message are we really sending our children? Why aren't we protecting them? It is far easier to build a strong child than to try and fix a broken adult, but it seems we are doing just that. Join us as we speak with panelist Kelli Benis from Alberta, Canada, author of "Shredding the Same: Healing Childhood Abuse" and guests Angel Cook from Cleburn, Texas, and Ryan McKinnon from British Columbia, Canada, whose entire families have been through this nightmare and are still fighting to have their children heard and their trauma addressed. We will be discussing this very serious issue and what we can and must do to stop this pandemic and stop destroying the very children who are our future - all our futures. We know this is a tough topic, but it's one that desperately needs to be addressed. We can stop this pandemic. It's time we starting listening to our children. ~~ Every two weeks a new THEME will be presented in this series, with frequent special guests speaking from their own experience. ~~ Please see our web page at: www.NAASCA.org/ForOurKids or write to:naasca.forourkids@gmail.com

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1014

    in Self Help

SPECIAL TOPIC Night - "Child Abuse, Trauma and 12-Step Recovery" - STEP 4 - SCAN host Bill Murray will be joined by special guest co-host Rivka Edery, MSW, LCSW, from NYC, author of the book “Trauma and Transformation: A 12-Step Guide." Bill founded the recently launched Adult Survivors of Child Abuse Anonymous (ASCAA). Together they will lead tonight's discussion on STEP 4: "Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves." Most survivors, unless they are in a crisis, do not put much thought into what happened; the people, places, things, and reactions to events that have long-shaped their life. But if you have not yet taken a look at the traumas that have shaped your personality, behaviors, fears, and ways of responding in life, Step Four is a good opportunity to stop and think about it. Perhaps you have reached the day when you realize that you are not living your life as you really want to. Perhaps you feel a deep inner longing for healthy, secure attachment, love and a more kind relationship with yourself. ~~ A child abuse survivor herself, Rivka Edery is grateful for the spiritual recovery she found in the 12 Steps of AA. She's been active in the 12 Step community for over 17 years. Bill Murray credits his 30 plus years of recovery to the spiritual power of the 12 Step program, too. ~~ Join us every two weeks to further examine a 12 Step approach to recovery from abuse. Next show we'll address STEP 5. ~~ Please see our web page at: www.NAASCA.org/Trauma-12Step or write to Rivka at: rebecca.edery@gmail.com

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1010

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Jeanette Allison from Monterey, CA, who suffered neglect and emotional abuse at the hands of her mother, a raging and mean alcoholic with Bipolar disorder, a sadistic and narcissistic personality who suffered from a schizoaffective disorder with paranoia. Jeanette's father was the enabler in the family. He worked three jobs to support the family of four. Her mother targeted her specifically, not her more compliant brother. Until recently Jeanette was a single mother and an LGBT activist. She had problems with alcohol in the past and successfully broke free of those problems through the help of AA's 12 Step program which she still practices on a daily basis, targeting the spiritual malady that lead her to drink in the first place. Although AA has been the solution to her alcoholism, she found no relief for trauma she suffered and carried with her from childhood. This is changing now as Jeanette found an answer to addressing unhealed maladies when she learned of Rivka Edery's book "Trauma and Transformation: A 12 Step Guide" and NAASCA's every other Thursday night "Stop Child Abuse Now" radio talk series that's devoted to the application of a 12 Step Program and approach to recovery the trauma of childhood abuse. Jeanette continues to be a shining light, despite suffering from a traumatic work accident, and a rare hand tumor that have halted her dream job as an occupational therapist. As such has a special interest in individuals with disabilities. She married her wife, Jackie Allison, this summer, and strives to be a leader who use her compassion, her kindness and the love of writing and photography to heal others' hearts.
