St. Helena - Empress mother of Constantine the Great. She was a native of Bithynia, who married the then Roman general Constantius I Chlorus about 270. Constantine was born soon after, and in 293, Constantius was made Caesar, or junior emperor. He divorced Helena to marry co Emperor Maximian?s stepdaughter. Constantine became emperor in 312 after the fateful victory at Milvian Bridge, and Helena was named Augusta, or empress. She converted to Christianity and performed many acts of charity, including building churches in Rome and in the Holy Land. On a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, Helena discovered the True Cross. She is believed to have died in Nicomedia. Her porphyry sarcophagus is in the Vatican Museum. Geoffrey of Monmouth, England, started the legend that Helena was the daughter of the king of Colchester, a tradition no longer upheld. In liturgical art Helena is depicted as an empress, holding a cross.
My name is Ethan Robinson. I am a 25-year-old trans male from Western New York. Although born in Buffalo, NY, I spent most of my life growing up in South Florida. After graduating from high school and attending college in Florida, I decided to return to the Buffalo area in 2006 to be close to my father, who later in 2008 passed away suddenly (so glad I moved). I immediately became actively involved in the local LGBT activist community. I returned to college as a full-time student in 2012, and aim to graduate in Business Marketing during 2015. My gender identity is the product of an evolving self-discovery that has developed over some years. I am engaged to a wonderful woman who is also trans* and thus understands me on a very real level. I have a stepdaughter who is 15 whom I love, and a dog and two cats. I am in the process of helping to organize a benefit for my top surgery that will occur in May, with Dr. Garramone. I currently partake in vlogging my transition on my personal YouTube channel. I hope to grow that channel and talk about a broadening range of issues as time goes on. I have a wonderful, supportive and loving family. Upon coming out as trans, my biggest concern was about maintaining a strong relationship with my Mom. When I first came out to her she was undeniably in a state of shock, and not really understanding what being trans was all about. We have come a long way together since then, but the journey is far from over. It has been interesting, and continues to be, to watch our relationship evolve. From Mother and Daughter to Mother and Son, what an incredibly loving woman she is to embrace me. My Mother does have her struggles with regards to me changing my gender and that is all a part of this journey. I believe that when we transition, our family also has to transition in a sense.

A big part of being Your Best YOU, for many people, is winning the battle of the bulge. In other words: Dieting and Losing Weight.
Unless you live under a rock somewhere, you know that this is a big problem, and there are endless reality TV shows, interviews, books, articles and programs dedicated to this subject. Have you ever asked Why? Why so many?
I believe that the secret isn't hidden in a green salad. It is a matter of Changing Your Mind. A simple statement with a not-so-simple story behind it.
To share this story, to share the happiness of having a Good Breakup with Food, I am excited to have as my guest Allison Tuttle - my own beloved stepdaughter, and a woman who I see as a true inspiration.
Since I know her well, I already know the details. But her story of how she literally Changed Her Mind and ended up changing her life will make you stop, look, listen and then take notes. A real person who made a real life change - and can help you do it too!
Call up Sister Hazel on Pandora. Make sure to mark your calendars! You don't want to miss this one!

JOIN ME TO WELCOME LINDY SMITH AND SARAH HOLBURN-DOIRON:
My 1st guest tonight is Linda Little Smith, but most people call her Lindy. Lindy is a mother, a stepmother, a grandmother and a missing person’s advocate. Her 29 year old mentally ill stepdaughter, Tasha Marie Smith, walked out of her group home December 1, 2010 in Cambridge Ontario, and vanished into thin air without any of her belongings, money or ID. Tasha’s disappearance has opened Lindy’s eyes to the many other missing people in her area and across Canada.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Last week we had Heather (not her real name) call in to the show about her daughter, Angel (not her real name). Angel was the victim of a kidnapping and was rescued and on her way to becoming a survivor of this crime. Angel spoke briefly to the listeners, but was overwhelmed by it all and had to go. I got this message from her today: "The Other night when my mom called in. I listened in and for once I didn't feel so loney. And it's hard for me to feel like that." So she sat down and "Wrote a story. Short story. About what happened to me". Tonight, Angel is calling in with her story. And she will be okay to answer questions. My 2nd guest is Sarah Holburn-Doiron, has been living a nightmare of her own for the past 7 years. Her daughter Kyla was murdered by her ex-boyfriend. Sarah will share what happened to Kyla with us in a heart-wrenching story of pain and heartache and what she has done in her daughter's name since, including founding M.A.M.A.s of Canada (Mothers Against Murderous Acts).
