John Carver Show - Make Your Minutes Count (Andy Stanley)

    in Christianity

Today's show is a talk given by Andy Stanley (http://northpoint.org/).  He is the son of Pastor Charles Stanley.  Andy's style has opened my eyes so many times to look at things differently.  Today's show is no exception.  "Make your Minutes Count" is about prayer.

When was the last time you heard someone teach a lesson on how to pray, why we should pray and so much more information that could get you to look at prayer in a whole new way.

Prayer is a "two way street."  Listen to Andy's words and consider putting into practice some or all of what he shares in his talk.

Lori Stanley Roeleveld,Running from a Crazy Man

    in Books

You’ll find yourself saying as I did: just one more chapter. And one more. And one more. ~ Jerry B. Jenkins

You're restless. Trouble has you gasping beside the narrow road. This is your invitation back to the adventure.

Some Christians leave their relationship with God in a sealed box like a collectible that will be worth something "someday." Not you. You wholeheartedly answered the call to follow Him into the great adventure.

Then, something unexpected happened that left you gasping beside the narrow road. You thought you were following Jesus but now it feels as if all you're doing is running from a crazy man. Even knocked down, though, you seek the strength to continue the journey.

This isn't a book for the happily comfortable. This is a book for the restless Jesus lover, the longsuffering disciple, the openhearted believer. Be forewarned. The challenges inside are designed to unsettle you as well as provide practical suggestions for thriving on the narrow road even if trouble is your travel companion.

Running from a Crazy Man (and Other Adventures Traveling with Jesus) is a siren call to the modern believer that the God-adventure can happen even when, like King David, you re running from a crazy man.

Is the current NHL postseason divisional format asinine or entertaining? Are the normal elite teams weaker this year? Will it finally be time for Alexander Ovechkin and the Capitals to embark on a deep run? Can the Rangers and Ducks turn great regular seasons into a championship? How much pressure is on Carey Price and Montreal? The Blackhawks experienced talent, the Canada impact, the Penguins and Red Wings uncommon struggling star power ways, the curse of the Blues. All these questions and topics will be bantered about.

In addition to a Stanley Cup Playoff preview, the Major League Baseball season is almost two weeks old. Which teams have played above themselves so far?
