Scottscope Talk Radio 8/11/2015: Riding Through The CPT!

    in Entertainment

On tonight’s edition of Scottscope Talk Radio, the roundtable reviews ‘Fantastic Four!’  Is it truly as bad as its reputation suggests?  Who is ultimately to blame for its abject failure at the box office?  Was director Josh Trank sleeping on the job?  Does 20th Century Fox know how to properly usher a superhero property to the big screen?  Should Fox simply give the rights back to Marvel and be done with it?  Are they merely being stubborn by holding on to the rights and proceeding with plans for a sequel?  Why is apparently so hard to make a decent movie about Marvel’s first family?

We’ll also be reviewing Dr. Dre’s latest (and supposedly final) studio album ‘Compton: A Soundtrack by Dre.’  Is it in the same class as The Chronic or 2001?  Is it even in the same class as the Aftermath album?  Does Dre still have his penchant magic touch behind the boards, or have his skills atrophied?  Is the album a suitable companion piece to the upcoming N.W.A biopic ‘Straight Outta Compton’?

We’ll also be celebrating the life and legacy of the late Sean Price!  How can the musical legacy of Sean Price be properly summed up?  Can he be considered one of the most uncompromising rappers from his particular era?  What were his most essential contributions to the famed Boot Camp Clik?  How did his solo material matchup to his work as one half of the duo Heltah Skeltah?

    Ryan Broshear Live

    in Military

Join us this week as we welcome country  music singer songwriter, Ryan Broshear. Ryan is the living breathing embodiment of Country Music. From growing up on a farm to paying his dues in smoky nightclubs, he experienced love and loss while chasing his dream of music. His entire life has been set to the soundtrack of a classic country song. After scoring some hits with his self-titled album from 2012 (like “I Don’t Mind” and “Make Each Moment Last”), Ryan Broshear returns with his new just released six track EP "Paint It Red" (Painted Horse Records). Each of the songs on his new EP, including the mid tempo melodic “Spin Me” and radio-ready anthem “Friday Night In A Small Town”, is written or co-written by Broshear except for “Boots,” a song producer Daniel Agee co-wrote with Justin Weaver. While solidly a neb-traditionalist type of artist, "Paint It Red" showcases how such an artist can release music which is both traditionally-minded and contemporary at the same time. The new EP album from Ryan is available now at all fine digital outlets. We will talk to Ryan about his upcoming schedule, get a behind the scenes look at his music, feature his latest songs, and ask him to share his message for the troops. Please be sure to visit Ryan Broshear at http://www.ryanbroshear.com/ and spread the word. Fans are welcome to call in and speak live with Ryan during the show (718) 766-4193. If you would like to participate in the live chat during the show, you must sign up on the show site first and then log in during the show. And as always we will give shout outs to our deployed military listeners. Be sure to join us, Sunday 8/30/2015 at 4 PM EDT! Our message to the troops: WE do what we do, because YOU do what you do.

'CrossRoads to Freedom' defines Chris Dair's high-octane and sultry guitar playing and song-writing. Asked whether he played other instruments, "Yeah, I play bass, drums, percussion, harmonica, and some keyboard, and anything else I can get a good sound out of!" Dair, a French resident, brings the extremes of world musical guitar disciplines: Flamenco & the Blues to his musical compostion.   "Blues has this rawness, a simplicity and an undisguised passion in it’s expression of life’s experiences. I play many different styles of music, but my whole core of what I do comes from the blues, whether it be a Fusion Jazz or an Eastern improvisational piece, or a percussion piece it contains elements of the blues that grew up with me." Chris was captivated  by the genius of Jimi Hendrix and his musical university were the performers who filled London's venues, night-clubs and concer halls to inspire and thrill his performance. All these experiences have gifted is his guitar passion remarkable albums and hundreds of studio hours in film and television soundtrack recording.  In an interview with Glen when asked about Music. Chris replied: "It’s like breathing, if I stop, I die. I’ve been playing all my life and I could never give it up, that would be unthinkable. It’s more exciting now for me than it ever was. I wouldn’t know what to do if I didn’t have my music and didn‘t play. For me, what else is there?" Vivian Dair says of her musical experience: 'Melody and lyrics work together to tell a story of what life has given me. I sing with a celtic influence which I couldn't explain until I found that I have an Irish great grandmother, which kind of clarifies that for me. My style includes Psychedelic Blues Rock, Folk Rock, Ballads and so on. I am not influenced by anyone musically, I like all sorts of music, from Aaron Neville to Rammstein !'
