Set in Charlottesville, Virginia during the very last days of the Jim Crow South, Apron Strings is an extraordinary debut novel of life in the south and the bonds that existed between black and white. Mary Morony’s lyrical and rich prose weaves in and out of the present and the past to create a narrative that is a tough and unflinching look at a small southern town in a turbulent time.
Told in the clear strong voices of Sallee, a precocious nine-year old and Ethel, her family’s black maid, Apron Strings tells the complex story of a southern family that is breaking apart. Sallee is the child of a strong but dysfunctional mother who is as much a victim of a segregated south as her maid and a loving ‘outsider’ father who is ready to challenge the existing order, both socially and economically, to succeed in the coming new era. Ethel comes from a large, loving family that has struggled to survive in a world where “whites only” was a common sign. The narrators tell their stories from each of their perspectives, with only hints of the social unrest that is occurring throughout the south, but an unrest that clearly affects their lives as their stories unfold.

In her long-term quest for something new and exciting in past-life research, best-selling author and past-life therapist Joanne DiMaggio found that what she was looking for had been staring her in the face for years. In fact, she had already written about it in her previous book, Soul Writing: Conversing with Your Higher Self where she chronicled how she stumbled on the process of soul writing—which she defined as a written form of meditation.
Although Joanne didn’t realize it until many years later, the ability to tap into information from a previous life first appeared when she was a 9-year old praying for help to create a secret code. She received that code, only to discover 25 years later that it was actually the Phoenician alphabet, dating back to 1000 B.C. As a college student, Joanne re-experienced the ability to access information from another time through stream-of-consciousness writing. It was so pronounced that her college professor told her she had the most “uncanny feel for the 18th century” of any student he ever had. This remarkable ability resurfaced again while working as a freelance copywriter. Wanting to improve her craft, Joanne began listening to a writer’s subliminal programming tape. While in an altered state, she was instructed to “start writing now” and when she did, what emerged were diary entries from the 18th century. It wasn’t until years later that she accepted that what she had been doing was accessing past life information through guided writing.

During the course of this one week assignment I discover the negative patterns and cycles ingrained since birth. It becomes clear how these mistaken beliefs create fear and roadblocks in my life. It's time for a change!"
Sounds like Robert has been where alot of us have been...He will be sharing his amazing wisdom with us to help all of us find that CHANGE! :)
