Susan Powers & Rawmazing.com: The Recipe for a Profitable Web-Based Business

    in Entrepreneur

Steve and Dana will be talking with Rawmazing.com founder, Susan Powers, who has combined her talents as a raw food recipe artist and professional photographer to build a thriving and profitable online business. They will talk about why Susan started this particular business, what she did differently to make a name for herself quickly, and some of the pivots she's had to make along the way.

A Minnesota native now living in San Francisco, Susan was involved with food and wine for years as a trained sommelier. Gourmet food and wines were a part of her every day lifestyle, and meeting and working with top chefs and studying classical french cooking along with many other cuisines, inspired Susan's passion and creativity for food. It also led her down a path to excess weight, general fatigue and other symptoms that she knew were associated with her diet. Susan's body was seriously rebelling and she decided to do something about it.

When Susan found raw, she was energized by this whole new way to prepare and eat food, and learning this way of life was fun. She tried some of her own recipes and experienced a lot of failure, so instead, she learned how to prepare raw food using every cookbook she could get her hands on. Reading about raw, the health benefits, and the principles behind this way of eating became an obsession. And she decided to turn what she was learning into a business that would make money while helping others improve their lives through healthier eating.

Rawmazing.com is filled with mouth-watering recipes and gorgeous photographs, along with in-depth articles and an online store where you can buy Susan's cookbooks and the same products she uses every day in her kitchen.

Patricia Albere - Opening to a New Paradigm: Higher Communication

    in Self Help

Our guest, Patricia Albere is a spiritual teacher, founder & director of the Evolutionary Collective, & co-author of MUTUAL AWAKENING: Opening to a New Paradigm of Human Relatedness.

Who are we at our core? Who is the “essential you” that has always been there – at your point of origination, where your being starts…?

Patricia Albere says, "Awakening consciousness leads us to wisdom within. AND, Mutual awakening leads us to wisdom of the collective."

Have you noticed how we walk the planet in isolation? Even in our uber-connected world, we see thousands of people pass on the street every day--barely noticing each other or their environment.

Just how aware are we that Ordinary Consciousness is based in separation?

Patricia’s lifelong inquiry into human potential has brought her to an entirely new understanding of unity-consciousness opening a collective knowing or intuition that is truly always there for us.

“Do you want to be a sommelier of human beingness?”

CM Radio - July 16, 2014 - The Strumbellas, Astrid Young & Ryan McCambridge

    in Music

Another Wednesday, another edition of Canadian Musician Radio. With all of these great summer festivals and tours, we've been able to deliver a heap of artist interviews, and this week is no different.

Join us as we catch up with Juno-winning six-piece "folk popgrass" outfit The Strumbellas, singer-songwriter Astrid Young (also the half-sister of the one and only Neil), and Ryan McCambridge.

The Strumbellas are playing summer festivals across Canada and the U.S. this summer, continuing to promote the sophomore album, We Still Move Dance Floors. While its predecessor, My Father and the Hunter, was nominated for a Juno Award for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year in 2013,We Still Move Dance Floors actually took the trophy earlier in 2014 and was recently long-listed for the 2014 Polaris Music Prize. They're more focused than ever now, and we'll find out why.

Musician, composer, actor, author screenwriter, and sommelier Astrid Young released her fourth solo record, One Night at Giant Rock, at the end of June. In a special performance, Young is kicking off her "psychedelic acid folk" tour in southern Ontario in late July and will work her way west. The album, featuring Victor DeLorenzo of the Violent Femmes is a collection of songs that reflect her personal discovery of the karmic meaning of all her relationships. She speaks about the long gaps between records, some of her other musical endeavors, and more.

Finally, in addition to being a studio engineer who's been the right hand man of producer/engineer David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, Tool, Dream Theater), Ryan McCambridge has been making music under the moniker of A Calmer Collision. We talk about the sonic balance he's struck between modern rock and electronica as well as how his experience in the studio informs his work as a musician and more.
