Hood National Forest served to fuel the passion of his pursuit. He is a core member of the TFRG as well as the Olympic Project www.olympicproject.com.
With snow flying in some parts of the country, we think it is time to talk about one of the best ways to burn calories and enjoy Mother Nature during the winter, besides shoveling the white stuff. We have a great guest lined up for this broadast, Sarah Rose from Tubbs Snowshoes. Be sure to tune in and listen to Sarah share her extenisve knowledge and passion for all things related to snowshoeing.
I first began to snowshoe when I was attending college in the UP of Michigan where the average snowfall is 300+ inches and the winter scenery of the Keewenaw Peninsula is best enjoyed while quietly snowshoeing through the forest along Lake Superior. One time when I took off my snowshoes to take a break, I had forgotten how much snowshoes keep you above the snow and quickly found myself in waist deep snow and crawling back onto my snowshoes.
And when I transfered to Utah State I had the great opportunity to snowshoe in the Wasatch Mountains. To this day I can remember walking through a large open area in an attempt to eat my lunch on top of a single sun drenched large rock in the expansive opening. Upon my return to campus my local friends told me I had walked across a lake out to an island. They were guessing there was at least 10' of snow on the ground in the area i had visited that day. The clear blue skies, crisp cold air and untracked snow was one of my most memorable times spent outside.
So I invite you to stop by and share your thoughts about snowshoeing and take advantage of this opportunity to talk Sarah who represents one of the leaders in the snowshoe industry.
Like most people, life sometimes gets in our way and we lose focus on what we are doing and the past year saw our main business which is a design/build garden construciton business, simply continue to be very busy. And to help us be more centered we chose to be more committed to our other outdoor activities like biking, paddling and this winter snowshoeing and cross county skiing.
This broadcast will talk about our vision for silentsportsguru moving forward and a review of our great local rail to trails path The Interurban Bike Trail.

Kim Williams-Justesen will be with us tonight to discuss her new Novel "DEATH'S KISS"!
Born and raised in Utah, Kim was the kind of kid whose mom had to come in and take the flashlight away so she would go to sleep. She has always been an avid reader and writer. Years of Public Relations work kept her writing at work. Then when her third kid came along, she decided to stay home and try her hand at writing professionally. In 2003, Kim earned her MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults at the prestigious Vermont College of Fine Arts, and the rest was - as they say - history.
In addition to writing, Kim loves being out of doors, whether it's in her garden picking raspberries, in the mountains camping or snowshoeing, or traveling to her favorite beach in North Carolina. Kim has taught writing and English courses at local colleges, and has presented various workshops on writing. She is the mother of three kids and grandma one grandkid. She has three cats and one dog, and one day she wants to have a pet snake!
"DEATH'S KISS" synopsis: Maylee saw Death take her dad. Now she looks for death everywhere, hoping to get some answers to her questions. When she goes to far in her search, her mother commits her to a hospital psych unit. Maylee meets and begins to fall for Ohanzee, who shows her about how to live. But when she learns the truth about him, will she choose to go back to her life, or to follow Death all the way?
DEATH’S KISS is about facing death and learning to live, it’s about dark secrets and darker truths. It’s about giving up hope and finding second chances, and holding on when everything tells you to let go.
