I have been a Bond fan for a long time. Everyone has their own favorite one, and I was no different (Sean Connery was the original, but Pierce Brosnan picked up that torch quite well.) However, with the introduction of Daniel Craig, I was less then impressed at his portrayal of Bond. Granted, Brosnan had left some rather odd shoes to fill storywise, but there was a discord in the harmony of the traditional character that did not set will with me. I managed to get through Casino Royale, but Quantum Solace left me bitter and discouraged. I had given up on Bond - until Spectre. Watching this newest addition in the Bond film line gave me back Bond in the best way. Listen in to hear my review and call with comments about your favorite Bond and what you think is the best/worst of the filmology.
On this week's ScreenPicks Movie Show, we review six new movies. First, we look at the latest James Bond 007 film Spectre, starring Daniel Craig and Christoph Waltz. Then we discuss Best Picture contender Spotlight, starring Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, and Liev Schreiber about the Boston Globe's 2001 coverage of the Catholic Church abuse scandal. Then we review Trumbo, starring Bryan Cranston. After that, we talk about Brooklyn with Saoirse Ronan, which could also be an Oscar contender. Finally, we review The Peanuts Movie and Miss You Already with Toni Collette and Drew Barrymore.
Robert Winfree and Mark Radulich review Spectre starring Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Dave Bautista, Monica Bellucci and Ralph Fiennes. This film is directed by Sam Mendes. A cryptic message from the past leads James Bond (Daniel Craig) to Mexico City and Rome, where he meets the beautiful widow (Monica Bellucci) of an infamous criminal. After infiltrating a secret meeting, 007 uncovers the existence of the sinister organization SPECTRE. Needing the help of the daughter of an old nemesis, he embarks on a mission to find her. As Bond ventures toward the heart of SPECTRE, he discovers a chilling connection between himself and the enemy (Christoph Waltz) he seeks. This film is directed by Sam Mendes.
This week, we'll be talking Bond and other spies!
In the earliest days of the Cold War, unlikely monikered producer Albert R. "Cubby" Broccoli and his partner Harry Saltzman tapped into some very variant elements of the late 50's/early 60's zeitgeist and created the defining example of a martini-sipping, jet setting lounge lizard fantasy of an international spy. Simultaneously able to work contemporary political tropes of anti-Communism and the hip, swinging macho dream of every potbellied suburban overlord, their version of Ian Fleming's 007 overtook the original and spawned a literal army of filmic and televised knockoffs, from the successful (Jerry Cotton and the Eurospy craze, John Steed, Jason King, Adam Adamant, Alexander Mundy, Simon Templar, James West and Artemus Gordon, the I.M.F.) to the strangely popular and comic oriented but failed (Man From Uncle, Get Smart, I Spy).

Kathryn Sameul author of Opening the Heart: Meditations on How be is my guest. Formerly a practicing attorney, I felt called to move to Massachusetts from Illinois, where I am following a path of spiritual seeking and work, including work as an intuitive counselor and a certified life coach.
As an intuitive, I give readings using spiritual writing, a practice I have engaged in since 1993. Spiritual writing involves connecting with both our angels and guides and allowing them to write through me. I then give you the messages that have come through for you.
I was certified by the University of New Hampshire as a life coach in 2007, and I have been offering my services as a life coach since then. I am open to all clients to whom I can be of service; however, I am deeply interested in helping those undergoing a transition in their lives - whether it is a move, a job or career change, or a loss of someone they love.
I also offer the service of teaching my clients basic meditation skills, and, where needed, will use guided meditations to help my clients.
I bring empathy and insight to my practice, using the particular techniques that most benefit my clients. I also bring the analytic skills that I honed while a practicing attorney. The combination of my skills and training allow me to ask the questions that need to be asked and to provide support and guidance to my clients.
