On April 7 2013, Matt Williams and Shawn Carnes began broadcasting Nashville Underground Radio with the intention of bringing the real Nashville to the rest of the world - especially its ecclectic music scene. One year later, the show that started on one cell phone in a living room is becoming a solidified brand name in the Nashville community.
And we couldn't do it without the artists we've featured each week. That's why, one year later, we are celebrating the music LIVE at The Sound Shelter studio with performances by: Jamie Meyer, Ella Mae Bowen, Matt Giraud, Ben Sturgell, Erika Cole, Them Vibes, Rebecca Roubion, Zeke Duhon, Kayla Nettles, and Matt Bednarsky, with special appearances by Lindsay Ell, Elle Maze, Timothy James Bowen and Kylie Rothfield!
Plus, the guys have a special announcement!
Rissi Palmer Singer Songwriter
Pop Roxx Radio,
Featuring Interesting People doing Interesting Things
Hosted by Pop Artist Jamie Roxx
Tonight's Featured Guest: Rissi Palmer
Rissi discusses her two EP project called The Back Porch Sessions. This stripped down musical photo album finds her going back to basics, reflecting on her past, relishing her present, and looking forward to the future. She is revisiting times spent listening to her mom’s Patsy Cline and Motown records on Saturday mornings, taking quarters for singing on the front porch of her great-grandmother’s house in Summerville, GA, the highs and lows of her experiences in the music business, and becoming a wife, mother, and grown woman. Country, Americana, and Soul…it’s all here.
Country Radio Seminar, the world’s largest Country radio event, was this past week at the Nashville Convention Center. Matt and Shawn were there, and on this week's episode they take you behind the scenes, into the after parties and talk to some up-and-coming stars of country music.

Otan Vargas’ honest lyrics and raw emotion, likened to such culturally defining artists as Staind, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains, has captivated fans from around the world via his personal YouTube videos. This Filipino born New York based artist received due recognition in 2009 when Staind frontman, Aaron Lewis, discovered Vargas on video covering one of his songs. Lewis later invited Vargas onstage at The Music Box Borgata Hotel and Casinos to perform Staind’s “It’s Been Awhile,” his rendition eliciting a standing ovation from the crowd. Shortly after, Otan Vargas released his full length debut album, ‘Alone.’ He has performed at The Bitter End, The Bowery Electric, and Gramercy Theater. Vargas also performed in Wantagh, NY at the Jones Beach Bandshell in 2010 and 2012 for crowds numbering up to 5000. 2011 had Vargas performing alongside Aaron Lewis of Staind, Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour, David Ellefson of Megadeth, Troy Mclawhorn of Evanescence, Pat Callahan of Seether, Pete Murray of Lo Pro and Eye Empire. He recently finished his new album titled 'Origins,' produced by Johnny April of Staind and engineered by Joe Rogers. The album was funded by the support of his friends and fans through Indiegog, which he so readily appreciates and admires. For more information, visit www.otanvargas.com
