Twitter Talk - Evan and Troy talk about the hottest topics in sports

    in Sports

Major League Baseball is the center of attention on Wednesday night. There are two elimination games, both in the American League. The Toronto Blue Jays who dropped the first two games of the series advanced toAmerican League Championship Series. The Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals will battle for the other spot, in the ALCS.

The Blue Jays and Texas Rangers were tied at three when a weird play happened. Russell Martin went to throw the ball back to pitcher Aaron Sanchez when the ball hit the bat of Shin-soo Choo. The rule states that this is a live ball and it allowed Rougned Odor to score and give the Rangers a 3-2 lead. It was short lived as Jose Bautista belted a three run blast after Elvis Andrus committed two errors in the inning.

Amidst the crazy play and great finish the Toronto fans showed no class at all. Beer cans and debris were flying from the upper deck and some not even making the field and hitting other fans in the lower level. Two innings later those same fans who were being ignorant were in the middle of celebration, which makes me shake my head. What are your thoughts about fans throwing things on the field

Major League Baseball league championship series are underway; who will win?

    in Sports

Major League Baseball could not have asked for a better start to October. Three of the four divisional series went to a deciding game five. The Chicago Cubs defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in four games, and will travel to New York to face the Mets. Daniel Murphy smashed a home run off Zack Grienke in the sixth inning to provide the winning margin. However, the story of the series was Mets pitching. The Los Angeles Dodgers struck out 54 times in five games. The Mets will send Matt Harvey to the mound against the Cubs Jon Lester.

Both series in the American League went to five games. After losing the first two games at home, the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Texas Rangers three times. Game five had some fireworks. Russell Wilson went to throw the ball back to pitcher Aaron Sanchez but the ball hit Shin-Soo Choos' bat.  The ball rolled down the third base line and Rougned Odor raced home to score the go ahead run. A rule that hardly needs to be enforced was called correctly. Fans were upset and started throwing debris on the field, and John Gibbons even told the umpire that they were playing the game under protest. Jose Bautista received the media attention after belting a three run home run to  give the Blue Jays the lead.  However, the heroics were possible because of three Ranger errors. Elvis Andrus had two fielding miscues, and first baseman Mitch Moreland had a bad throw to seocnd.

The Royals also needed a game five victory to reach the American League Championship Series. The Royals knocked the feel good story Houston Astros out of the playoffs with a 7-2 game five victory. After splitting the first two games in Kansas City the Astros headed back home. Their 53-28 home record was tied for the best in the American League. Surprisingly, The teams split both games and headed back to Kansas City. Edinson Volquez; from the Royals, will duel against Marco Estrada of the Blue Jays.
