Ben Bova is one of the most important forces in the history of Science Fiction.  Just hitting the high points of his career is enough for a whole resume from anyone else:  SIX time winner of the Hugo Award, former editor of Analog, the most influential magazine in all of Science Fiction (the successor of Astounding where so many SF legends published their most important stories), former editor of Omni, which H. Paul Honsinger regards as the coolest magazine ever published, former President of the Science Fiction Writers of America, and is the author of more than 115 books, one of which is his new political thriller, Power Surge.  He is known for his articulateness and eclectic intelligence.  He is perhaps best known for the "Grand Tour" series of novels which is considered a mainstay of modern science fiction.  Visit his official website.

    H. Paul Honsinger, an emerging voice in Military Science Fiction, is a retired attorney who wrote his first novel, To Honor You Call Us, at age 52.  He is the author of the "Man of War" Trilogy, which tells the story of 28 year old Cajun Max Robichaux who suddenly finds himself in command of one of the most troubled warships in the Union Space Navy during a war for humanity's survival. SF #235 - The "Follow-Me" Lifestyle

    in Motivation

Mordant & McFall tackle being transparent by talking about the new phase that they have entered in their careers and lives.  "Follow Me" means trusting into the unknown of what’s next while at the same time having enough strength to show others the way.

This episode of Success Freaks, “The Follow-Me Lifestyle” is explained as we find out Charles quit his job and this may be the last time we hear from Mordant!  GASP!  Spoiler alert: Mordant survives a snow storm atop a mountain while Charles didn’t quite quit Success Freaks.  Charles enlightens us on the struggles between quitting his job and the success that follows.  Mordant gets lost in mexico and explains how sometimes you need to go into the darkness and take a left to find your way to what you want.  The group gets theological, talking about how we all are the image of “Gawd” and our need to co-create.  A new hashtag is coined by Charles in hopes of creating a happier future.  In the end, Charles reveals his upcoming opportunity and discusses the steps he took to take the leap of faith.

SF #232 - Fear is the Mind Killer

    in Motivation

In a world where  it seems like most responses are based in fear, Mordant & McFall are discussing how to have rational love-based responses.

On this episode of Success Freaks, we jump right into "what the title of this week’s show means" and how it affects us all.  In segment two, Charles talks about the psychology of Perception.  Chatroom Query: How do you tell the difference between fear and instinct?  In the Level Up section, we learn how to deal with our fears and be patient with those who are dealing with their own fear.  In On Beyond, the discussion is about the emotion of Fear vs. respect and understanding.  Plus... there’s Werewolves.

SF #233 - Podcast Mavens~ with Audrey Kearns

    in Motivation

We have a great interview with Audrey Kearns of Geek Girl Authority - an amazing podcaster, actress, interviewer, and so much more.

On this episode of Success Freaks, Mordant has tech issues while Charles starts the show and we just “go with the flow”.  In segment two... Mordant? Mordant? Bueller? Nope.  We find out more about Social Anxiety and overcoming challenges.  Third Section: Still no Mordant! (So Charles and Audrey talk about how getting away from rules, leads to success.)  In the 4th section, Mordant wrestles his Tech issues into submission and joins the show!  He asks Audrey for advice for people moving forward through similar challenges.  In On Beyond, we go all “fan-boy” and ask Audrey what it’s like conducting interviews with people she’s such a fan of.  (This episode is 100% Werewolf free)

    SF #227 - November Mailbag

    in Motivation

November Mail Bag or the most awkward dating show ever....  We were planning to do another Lister show, but ran into that Facebook phenomenon of many people hitting the like button but no one actually writing in.  So, we winged it and, as in life, found our way into a great topic.

On this episode of Success Freaks, we start the show by warming up the Chat Room.  We tackle a listener question about climbing out of a rut while fighting depression.  We discuss a reversal of desire and understanding who you are.  In the Level Up, we discuss Viktor Frankl’s book Man’s Search for Meaning.  And in On Beyond, we take on a male perspective and the Success Freaks Buttercups Facebook group is born.

SF #234 - Naughty or Nice: Which List Do You Live By?

    in Motivation

Mordant & McFall discuss the concept of defining your life by what's wrong in it, "Naughty," or what is going right, "Nice."  This extends beyond the now moment into how you see yourself.  Out of that is how you find the paths to where you are heading.

On this episode of Success Freaks, we start off counting our adventures and discuss the meaning of this week’s title.  In segment two, we remind you that it’s not about behavior but how you see yourself… Naughty vs. Nice.  Charles delves a bit deeper into the meaning of lists and how they affect your life.  In the Level Up section… Charles says, "Acknowledging that times are tough doesn’t mean that you’re dwelling on the Negative."  Mordant says, "Good things lie on the other end of a pain in the ass!"  And finally in On Beyond, we share our thoughts on Social Media and how it affects your life.

SF #229 - Shut Up and Learn

    in Motivation

Mordant & McFall tackle the issue of when confidence in one person meets the worry wart in another, how to deal with the conflict, and how to shut up (on either side of the equation) and learn your lesson.

On this episode of Success Freaks, we promote a good cause, but somehow forget to set up the show.  We hear what happens when co-workers clash between ‘Worry Wart’ and ‘It’s Fine!’ attitudes.  We share a few personal stories of growth.  In the Level Up, we learn to look for the lesson in every situation.  And in On Beyond, we share the cartoon reactions we sometimes have to each other.

SF #231 - Chasing Your Best Possible

    in Motivation

Mordant & McFall discuss how to keep your focus on achieving your best possible everything.

On this episode of Success Freaks, we ask ‘How do you figure out what your “best possible” anything is.  We make a Borderlands analogy about how challenges make life fun.  If you’re good at something, are you required to pursue it? (...is a question we answer)    And we talk about finding a way to keep yourself feeling normal so that you can act normal when opportunity comes knocking.  In On Beyond, we illustrate how saying ‘Yes’ can work out… even if you’re unable to recognise it.

SF #226 - We Are Who We Are

    in Motivation

What begins as a show about team building, quickly morphs into a frank discussion about Mordant's experience at the Islamic Relief USA offices, the similarities in people different from us, diversity, racism, and moving from prejudice to tolerance and onto acceptance.  Join the Success Freaks as they take a look at some of the difficulty inherent in moving out from your comfort zone of knowing only people who are familiar to you to having new friends with different backgrounds.
