How it Will Skyrocket the Speed, Security, and Reliability of Your Computer Network
Is your business limping along using outdated computers or a peer-to-peer network that is constantly giving you problems? Are you planning on adding employees, opening a remote location or adding an additional office? Are you just sick and tired of dealing with conflicts, error messages, and breakdowns? If you are like most small businesses, you acquire desktop computers, phone systems, and software in a random, “buy-it-when-you-need-it” fashion as your business operations demand it.
But at some point, this patchwork of stopgap technology you’ve acquired is going to end up costing you more in downtime, system errors, breakdowns, and other problems than it would to rip out and replace everything.
If you’ve suddenly become aware that you’re at that stage of growth in your business, then you want to stop purchasing more software and hardware in a willy-nilly fashion and get serious about planning for your future growth and business operations so you don’t end up with a big pile of expensive hardware and software spaghetti that doesn’t meet your business needs.
They’re Not Just For Big Business Anymore
At one time, servers only made sense for large organizations because of their high cost and complexity. But today, there are very affordable and easy-to-implement server systems designed specifically for a growing small business. If you’re not absolutely certain that installing a server could help your business enough to justify the cost, here are 12 surefire signs that your business could definitely benefit from an upgrade.
Homestead Technologies started by Justin Kitch is one of America's biggest success stories. Kitch started Homestead Technologies in a spare room while living with 5 roomates at college. Homestead technologies sold to Intuit for $176 million dollars. Intuit kept Kitch on as an adviser but in 2012 sold Homestead Technologies to EIG Endurance International Group. EIG is a giant among cheap hosting companies with 35+ companies owned by EIG worldwide.
When EIG bought out Bluehost and Hostgator they moved them to SERVER FARMS. The move took nearly 4 days and created numerous technical problems. EIG moved Homestead Technologies to a Server Farm on November 19th 2014 and has shut their 70k users out of their Sitebuilder LPX/Desktop. Service interruptions were mounting as an alternative to Sitebuilder LPX/Desktop was offered with much slower speeds namely homestead Techologies Sitebuilder Plus.
Personaly I don't blame EIG for trying to update a 15 year old product that has been neglected for years. Simply put you can't expect to design todays websites with your grandparents sitebuilders. At some point needless and outdated products need to be discarded and new and improved service needs to be added.
From a Flashprepper point of view this is a disaster. It's an online disaster but a disaster none the less. The disaster which is now an online super storm of sorts started 15 years ago with neglect. No money was ever put into Sitebuilder LPX/Desktop. Now 15 years later it as a breaking point. Hosted on old outdated unstable servers EIG made a bold move to update service to Homestead customers.
EIG was quick to call this anything but a disaster and in fact are calling it a MIGRATION. It is a migration to faster speeds, more security, and a better product. Many Homestead members call this migration the worse upgrade EIG could have made and with really bad timing Cyber Monday 2014.
Who You Rock Wit?
As life in America becomes more and more perilous, we have to be sure that our village is functioning, and secure. Who You Rock With will set standards against faking. Cosign or cut off; no fence riding. Don't let our only narratives be from the lips of those that hate us. Upset the setup. You are who you rock with.
Where do you STAND?
If I'm rude to a server or customer service provider some place, they have to swallow it and be professional because in business, the customer is always right.
So explain to me how is it this cop gets away with murdering a teenage boy whose family pays taxes; therefore his salary in part.
Are we not patrons who deserve the same respect? WHY did Mike Brown have to be MURDERED for whatever level of UNARMED rudeness he may have displayed to a heavily armed public servant?
Then we have this ongoing feud between Iggy and Azealia in which the actual issue continues to completely elude Iggy and her supporters. Those ugly conversations nobody wants to have are erupting in ways that yield no resolve. So before anymore blood is spilled let's initiate the talks that will lead to necessary corrective action; but first you have to decide... who you rock with infinitely.
More so than just absolute threats to workstations or servers, security threats and risks posed to a network can have even graver consequences. For example, if your network perimeter goes unprotected, malformed data packets can enter in, which can lead to Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. Also, an exposed network can allow for all types and kinds of malware, spyware, and adware to enter in, bringing your network and everything on it, to a screeching halt.
What can you do to protect your network? In today's podcast, we learn about a new solution called 'GlassWire'. It is a network security tool, and consists of the following features:
1) Visual Network Monitoring;
2) A Network Time Machine;
3) Alert Systems;
4) Bandwidth Usage Monitoring;
5) Remote Server Monitoring;
6) Internet Privacy Protection.
Tune in and learn how to protect your network!!!

Our guests this morning are Scott Alevy of Car2Go and Charla Mandzak from the NYFC.
Scott Alevy was recently named to manage Car2Go's operation and plans for substantial growth in the greater Los Angeles marketplace. Car2Go, a division of Daimler Mercedes Benz USA, provides a unique, effective and sustainable car-sharing option, with point-to-point, by-the-minute rentals of "Smart for Two" cars.
Charla Mandzak joined NYFC as a server in 1997; however, with her creative spirit and a discerning eye for detail, it quickly became obvious that her true calling would be in helping clients create unforgettable events. “I never tire of seeing a bride walk down the aisle or the look on a client’s face at the end of an amazing meal.” Charla believes that every event should be unique and therefore very special. But it is her ability to keep the planning process fun that is most appreciated by her many satisfied clients.
