THE SANCTUARY FOR SENIOR DOGS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, adoption, and lifelong care of senior dogs abandoned in shelters and pounds. All of our dogs live in Sanctuary-approved foster homes until a permanent home can be found. Senior dogs too ill to be adopted stay in a Sanctuary hospice foster home for life. All senior dogs are spayed or neutered prior to placement. Join me as I speak with Deborah Workman from the sanctuary and learn about all they do for senior dogs. They are located in Cleveland Ohio. www.SanctuaryforSeniorDogs.org
Your generous donation allows our work with the abandoned senior dog population to continue and to grow. Without your support, our work would not be possible.

We are a Forever Foster home based sanctuary currently housing 30 senior dogs at the sanctuary with 33 more in forever foster homes. We are located in Mount Juliet Tennessee, just east of Nashville. We Celebrate Senior Dogs and provide them loving, lifetime retirement homes. We are an all volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Our mission is:
To provide a loving home, good food, high quality vet care, compassion and comfort to senior dogs for the remainder of their lives.
To build a ForeverFoster Home network to enable us to place more senior dogs in loving, home settings for the duration of their lives.
To provide education on the joys and challenges of caring for aging dogs.
To work with other dog rescue groups to promote the adoption of senior dogs.
While providing a lifetime home for senior dogs, OFSDS strives to raise awareness of the joys and challenges of living with aging dogs. While never forgetting where these dogs have come from, we want to emphasize the positive aspects of their life in retirement.
We do not concern ourselves with the quantity of time that they have left, rather the quality of the life that we can provide them for that time.

Every year, senior citizens in this country are being swindled out of billions of dollars. In a survey conducted by the Investor Protection Trust, the Investor Protection Institute and the American Bar Association, 34 percent of lawyers polled said they are dealing with or expect to have senior clients who have been exploited.
A few years ago, the Investor Protection Trust released a survey that found that more than7.3 million Americans older than 65 already had been victims of fraud. And a recent MetLife survey estimated that seniors older than 60 have lost nearly $3 billion a year to financial abuse. And surprisingly, much of this abuse is not from strangers.
There are lots of scams targeting senior citizens, and according to the experts, some of the more popular ones are: prizes/sweepstakes, investments, charity contributions, loans and mortgages, health, funeral and life insurance.
Most elderly victims of financial abuse don't report fraud because they are either too ashamed, don't realize they are being duped until it's too late to get their money back, or their adult children fail to recognize the problem in time to intervene.
On today’s episode of Your Money. Your Matters, we’ll discuss the issue of scams against senior citizens and what can be done to protect them.
