Episode 46 - Government Shutdown Teaches Us How to Avoid a Marriage Shutdown
The Federal government has been shutdown for over a week at the time of this radio show, and the reason for the shutdown and the repurcussions teach us many lessons on how to avoid a shutdown in our marriage.
Democrats and Republicans have differing views and opinions just like husbands and wives, but is it necessary and effective to have a shutdown?
In this episode we will discuss:
Reasons for the government shutdown and how they correlate to your marriage How a shutdown can be avoided in your marriage Repercussions of a marriage shutdown Just because the government shutdown, it doesn't mean your marriage has to!
There is so much happening around us, we can't keep up with everything that is going on. These days everyone has their eyes on the government shutdown. This has been the first federal government down in 17 years. An estimated 800,000 federal workers facing furlough. While Congress is in a standoff, millions of American people are at risk.
32,000 number of employees of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services who will likely be furloughed. Medicare/Medicaid beneficaries will still be covered, but other health services would be significanly impacted. 7 million number infant and children who will not receive supplemental nutrition, health care referrals, and nutrition education the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children program (WIC) during a government shut down.
A number of Head Start programs (out of about 1,600 nationally) that could close right away.
Please join host Antoinette Harrell for this upcoming discussion.
In today’s times we need to be up on our current event as a family. We need to explain and listen to what our children know about the world around us at all times. I know between work and taking care of the family you have very little if any time. So share with us how the government shut down has and is still affecting you and your family? What have you and your family cut down or back on since the government shut down?

On the October 23, 2013 episode of Liberal Dan Radio: The simplest breakdown between the two main sides of the political spectrum is if you need more government or if you need less government. So I want to have that discussion today. Where are the places where more government intervention is needed? Where are the places where less government intervention is needed?
Many of the people who are against the Affordable Care Act believe that it is a governmental power grab. They believe that it is government run wild and that government shouldn't have a place at the table. They believe in free market solutions. Do they work? Is full government intervention the answer? I will look at Texas (of all places) to show where a good mix of government and private ownership may be able to bring a better solution.
The recent case regarding the arrest of two students after a bullied girl killed herself has also opened the discussion of if we need more or less government. Is bullying a right of passage that government has no right to interfere with? Would cracking down on bullying by making it a crime violate free speech rights? Or does the right to be kept free of harm enable he state to come down and place strict penalties for those who wish to torture and torment other people.
A campaign flyer in New Orleans was published before the last election seeking to turn voters away form voting for an openly gay candidate. Should there be stricter laws dealing with such mailers or would that also be a violation of free speech rights?
I will also look back at the Erin Cox case and check for updates.

From the beginning of time, humans have bonded with each other by sharing stories. Why should it be any different in selling? When sellers listen to buyer's stories and share a piece of themselves, too, connections are formed.
