    An Infrastructure for Analytics

    in Technology

Applications for analytics are important, but those analytics have to run on hardware of some sort. The infrastructure you choose, whether public cloud or on-premise data center, something in between or a combination of multiple platforms, will have a significant impact on the application's performance.

In this episode we talk with Jim O'Reilly, a noted expert on application infrastructure, about the plusses and minuses of the different infrastructures and how a company should go about the process of deciding which infrastructure is the best one for their analytics needs.

    American Infrastructure - Highway Robbery!

    Toll Roads.....Taxation without representation

"Article on FDOT project to connect the Jacksonville East I-295 (Buckman Bridge) bypass to I-95 and extend capacity by Tolling Express Lanes.  (There is loads of real estate available from original development)"

"Of note last paragraphs .. Local Resident questioned why "they" couldn't simply make it a "free"way as Federal Tax Dollars pay 75% of the bill anyway."

"The FDOT response" "Through those studies (by road engineers) and working with the Federal Highway Administration, the determination was made that the best option for expanding capacity would be express lanes."

"My Cynical Opinion refers me to the Florida Investigative Reporter Eric Barton's story of how the Governor brought in Mr. Poole & the Reason Foundation (?) to "plan" roadway expansion as the real cause for the decision to toll our system of "free"ways."  http://fcir.org/2014/09/14/floridas-toll-lane-boom/

Response from Terri Hall....Yep, Bob Poole is behind all of it. Why would government turn down a revenue stream they don’t have to ask permission for and that voters can’t control?

Radio [itvt]: "Refashioning of Pay-TV's Technology and Content Infrastructure"

    in Technology

[itvt] is pleased to present an audio recording of the TVOT NYC 2014 session, "The Refashioning of Pay-TV's Technology and Content Infrastructure." The session was described in the show brochure as follows:

"By most accounts, the past few months have been a rocky time for pay-TV: according to a recent report from Leichtman Research Group, for example, the 13 largest operators in the US (representing 95% of the market) lost 150,000 video subscribers in the third quarter, compared to 25,000 in the same period last year; and nary a day goes by without a story appearing in the business press about the 'decline' or even the 'demise' of pay-TV.

This session brings together representatives of some of the companies that are looking to help pay-TV arrest its video-subscriber losses and revitalize its technology and content infrastructure with innovative solutions that will enable it to adapt to a rapidly evolving video world. Panelists will articulate their visions of the future of pay-TV, and debate and discuss the respective roles that will be played in that future by such new technologies and phenomena as the cable Reference Design Kit (RDK), HTML5, the incorporation of broadband services and applications onto the pay-TV set-top box, the migration to IP, multiscreen delivery, the emergence of cloud-based content services, and more." Panelists included:

Steve Donohue, Editor-in-Chief, The Donohue Report (Moderator)
    Mike Earle, CEO, aioTV
Fred Handsman, SVP of Strategic Planning and Business Development, Vubiquity
Michael Hawkey, SVP and GM, Sling Media
Tara Maitra, EVP and GM of Content and Media Sales, TiVo
Bernee Strom, Founder and Executive Chairman, WebTuner

Spirit and Science – The New Earth's Harmony

    in Spirituality

Join Sharon Rainbow Eagle, Sue Graywolf & Jim Graywolf for a powerful webcast of Ciracle Radio on Wednesday, 1/28 at 1 PM MST, 3 PM EST, 8 PM London and 10 PM Israel time. In this show we will discuss how to bring spiritual and scientific energies together to work as ONE. In harmony and support of each other.

We do need to start giving respect to science and we need to give respect to spirituality. They are both equally important and can help us achieve balance, wisdom and knowledge. Sometimes people trust facts more than they trust their emotions and their spirituality and sometimes, the situation is reversed.

A very interesting fact are that the first scientists were very spiritual; the Greek or the Mayans, for example, were able to predict a lot of future events, back in their times, and prove it using science. With the modern knowledge we have now, it's in our hands to build a better future by combining the spiritual and the scientific knowledge.

Spirit and science are sometimes quite similar; they both support changes. In fact, in their essence, both spirituality and science keep exploring changes as both approaches are based on the fact that without change, life will vanish.

    We will see you soon.

Bridges programming, ' The Science of Intent', Dr Bob Johnson

    in Energy

Dr. Bob Johnsons ebook, 'The Science of Intent' can be found on his website, truthtrustconsent.com and the first chapter can be downloaded there.   In this first chapter, which we will read from and comment on, Dr Johnson askes the question "do we have choice?"  He suggests an analogy to football where the audience is watching the game with out a football. The result, there is no game.  The ball relates to the meaning of football like human 'intent' relates to the meaning of life.  Limiting or eliminating human 'intent' (choice) is taking the heart and meaning out of existence.  Join in on our conversation or just listen in.  Either way you are very welcome.
