.Cops After Death Of Gregory Towns Jr. While In Custody
ATLANTA (AP) -- The family of a man who died after Atlanta-area police used stun guns on him has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the former officers and the city, the family's lawyer said.
The lawsuit, which was filed in Fulton County Superior Court, says East Point police officers used their stun guns as many as 13 times on Gregory Towns Jr. while he was handcuffed. The lawsuit claims former police sergeant Marcus Eberhart and former corporal Howard Weems used excessive force in the April 11 incident.
"It's just heinous," attorney Chris Stewart told The Associated Press in a phone interview Thursday. "This isn't one of those cases where he punched an officer and they had to Taser him to calm him down."
The lawsuit comes amid increased attention on police use of force in the wake of the fatal shooting in of 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Following that shooting, local police in Ferguson donned riot gear and fired tear gas and rubber bullets at protesters who refused to disperse and, at times, broke into nearby businesses.
While many police officers use their authority appropriately, there are some who view any act of disobedience as a call for extreme action, Stewart said.
"In our case, it wasn't about color, obviously, because the officers were black," Stewart said. "It was about power. He didn't walk when they said walk. He didn't stand when they said stand. And he didn't move fast enough when they said move."
Why are more & more police officers becoming murderers hidden behind police uniforms? Why aren't these political leaders nationwide ignoring this SERIOUS problem? Why are the National Guards that consist of our family members and dear friends being used against us when we demand these senseless murders to cease? It seems like these police officers are mainly targeting "black men" although we know men of other races and nationalities [especially the Hispanic men] are being singled out & targeted. Zimmerman completely disobeied the instructions of the dispatch policer officer to NOT follow Trayvon, but he ignore the order causing an unnecessary comfortation with Trayvon. Zimmerman ASSUMED he would be able to over power Trayvon because he's much larger; however, when Trayvon was whooping Zimmerman's butt. Zimmerman shoot & kills Trayvon in cold blood. Our tax dollars are being wasted by putting Zimmerman in protective custody. We shouldn't be funding the protection of a malicious killer. If Zimmerman truly felt his life was in danger at the moment & time he and Trayvon were in a physical fight, then Zimmerman shouldn't have NEVER EVER followed Trayvon. Zimmerman's disobedience to the law put him in that situation NOT Trayvon.
Michael Brown was INTENTIONALLY targeted because he is a young black man. Therefore, these bullies in police uniforms decided to confront him harassing him although he wasn't violating ANY laws at the time they approached him. Now, this young man is dead due to murderers in police uniforms.
Eric Gardner has a lengthy criminal history according the news reports and many police officers purposely target "black men" particularly who have such record to try to justify their reasonings for harassing & killing them.
Join us as we discuss how the police see civilians and the civilians see police and how that impacts attitudes and circumstances. Thursday October 30 at 6:30pm on SIRA Media Radio.
Yes, we in Luqman Nation realize that America is in the midst of another revolution, and, as usual, the identified "leaders" of the revolution are being questioned. Is Rev. Al Sharpton a help or a hinderance to the revolution to demand greater and better accountability for law encrocement in America? Should his distant past still be used to discredit his current efforts? Is he getting paid to sell out the revolution? Is he too much of a distraction?
Also, we'll talk about the idea being floated around some social media and other conversations that demanding greater and better accountabilty for bad police officers is equivalent to being against all police officers. We'll talk about the "Breathe Easy" t-shirt controversy, the recent shooting in Brooklyn, and the offense that some police officerrs and law enforcement organizations are expressing at the show of support and solidarity to this movement being shown across the country.
We hope you can join in on the conversation.
SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--Tamir Rice was a 12-yr-old boy brandishing a toy gun in an empty playground in Cleveland, Ohio when 911 was called. Although there is nothing threatening about the boy's physical appearanace, nor was there any signs of threatening behavior wither before or after the police arrived, Tamir was almost instantaneously shot to death when they arrived. on the other hand, Joseph Houseman, a 63-year-old Caucasian male who was drunk, disorderly and waving both a real machine gun as well as directing the police toward his genitals was not apprehended or penalized for his actions. Additionally, young Tamir's father's history of domestic violence and his movement toward his toy gun was mentioned in the police's attempts to justify murdering the pre-teen while the media branded the older intoxicated man a herodefending his right to bear arms. Many other cases involving blatant police infractions against the public, despite their race, will be touched on tonight. The System of American police forces ' mentality toward Black suspects as opposed to their White counterparts remains clear, as is the need for Black America to become a system of self-preserving mentality. IS AMERICA BECOMING A POLICE STATE ALL OVER AMERICA? WITH ARMY TECHNICAL SUPPOT. IS THAT FIT FOR AMERICA? IS ABUSE OF AUTHORITY FIT FOR AMERICA? IS THE SIGN OF AMERICA KILLING BLACK MEN A SIGN OF RACISM IN AMERICA? ARE POLICE MERELY TOOLS OF THOSE IN POWER?

n slang, "old school" or "old skool" can refer to anything that is from an earlier era or anything that may be considered "old-fashioned". The term is commonly used to suggest a high regard for something that has been shown to have lasting value or quality.
That was the it was , we don't do that way any more. Question is what are your outcome compared, to the Old School way?
Are you happier? Is there any joy in that life? Are given more than you recieving? Are you disapointed in your out comes? Why?
The police can openly kill people, this is well known, but why and when did it become a race issue? In the short time I have, I will be discussing some controversial facts that people don't like to hear about the Mike Brown case, the Eric Garner case, and distrust of the police. I will also address the slaying of the two officers in NY, an act that does nothing but spread hate. If you have a faith, send your prayers to the families.
