January Jones & Cancer Advocate Joni Aldrich
Cancer Survivor
Joni Aldrich
On May 13, 2004, a cancer diagnosis changed Joni Aldrich’s life forever. That was the day that she and her 43-year-old husband, Gordon, were told that he had a rare form of cancer. Once the shock wore off, what followed were two years of intense treatments including three stem cell transplants. Joni was Gordon’s primary caregiver often 800 miles away from home. Tragically the cancer invaded his brain, and Gordon died two years to the day after he was diagnosed.
As she went about rebuilding her life, Joni realized that there were invaluable lessons that she’d learned through the process of trying to save Gordon. She gave up her lucrative career and founded Cancer Lifeline Publications. Her own personal mission includes six amazing books (so far) to help others with practical, more focused strategies to survive cancer, caregiving, brain illness, and grief. But that wasn’t enough. Joni now produces and hosts five international radio shows every week: Cancer S.O.S., Diagnosis S.O.S., Caregiving S.O.S., Treatment S.O.S. and Ladies Who Inspire. www.JoniAldrich.com.Tags: January Jones Joni Aldrich Cancer Advocate Womens Cancer Network Cancer Stories

Sandra Goddley
Born in Bristol, UK, of Jamaican parents, Sandra grew up listening to the likes of Aretha Franklin, Amy Grant, Jessy Dixon, Andrae Crouch and Anita Baker. Her earliest memories of singing and songwriting were when she as 12 years old, performing at many conferences, festivals and fronting 2 bands. Sandra came out of these experiences stronger and prepared for her own solo career.
Her classy, refined vocals have been compared to Desiree, Anita Baker and Sade. In Sandra Godley, we see the embodiment of all the things in a diva we hold dear. Beautiful, yet somehow humble, Sandra Godley is so wonderfully talented that she has evolved from being just a singer/songwriter, to being a stylish, multi-genre songstress.
Easily adapting to all of contemporary black music’s offerings, Godley has performed funk, disco, house, soul, and R & B effortlessly.
By herself, Sandra Godley has evolved from the embodiment of the dance-diva to an elegant songstress. Always creative and spontaneous, Godley’s use of power house vocals in conjunction with the ability of holding an audience spellbound as she solos with an acoustic guitar, has taken black music to higher levels. Sandra has performed on many television and radio networks including BBC, Sky and God TV.
With 2 (largely self-penned) albums already under her belt, Sandra’s passion as a singer, songwriter, gifted communicator and entertainer is contagious to anyone who meets her. In 2005
Sweet Surrender demonstrates a variety of influences, showcasing the depth and flexibility of her abilities to include 11 tracks with a variety of styles including a twist of R & B, disco, church, and soul where she undoubtedly brings her signature energetic powerhouse vocals with an abundance of love and encouragement.

Searching for Sandra: The Disappearance of Sandra Cantu
The April 11, 2013, episode of American Heroes Radio features a conversation with law enforcement official Stacy Dittrich, the author of Searching for Sandra, The Story Behind the Disappearance of Sandra Cantu.
About the Guest
Stacy Dittrich is “an award-winning 15-year law enforcement officer, author, media consultant, and former detective specializing in sex crimes. With past training by a former FBI Behavioral Specialist, Stacy is certified through the National Institute of Truth Verification as an examiner (CVSA- lie detector). Stacy has also been assigned to a federal drug task in the investigations of numerous homicides. In 2002, she received the Victim’s of Crime Award.” Stach Dittrich is the author of Searching for Sandra: The Story Behind the Disappearance of Sandra Cantu.
According to the book description of Searching for Sandra: The Story Behind the Disappearance of Sandra Cantu, “Where was Sandra? Across the country, parents watched with growing panic as the surveillance video was replayed on the evening news: a young girl in black leggings and a Hello Kitty t-shirt, skipping alone through the mobile home park where she lived. Her bouncing steps carried her quickly across the screen and beyond the camera's view-just two weeks after she celebrated her eighth birthday, Sandra Cantu disappeared. Within days, panic gave way to horror when investigators reported that Sandra's neighbor, 28-year-old Melissa Huckaby, had been arrested and charged with the rape and murder of the young girl. Sandra's death at the hands of a trusted adult female sent a powerful message to parents everywhere: The days of warning against "Stranger Danger" are long gone, having been replaced by an even darker era where stereotypes no longer exist and families can never be sure who to trust.”

Interview with Sandra Bornstein
Based on a private journal, memories, and a blog that chronicled her adventure to India, Sandra Bornstein wrote May This Be the Best Year of Your Life to serve as a resource and guide to help others overcome the challenges of living outside their comfort zone. When her husband accepted a job that required extensive international travel, the author was living her version of the American dream in Colorado, never imagining she would be faced with several dilemmas that left her feeling uncertain. After a series of events, she found herself in a life altering experience that placed her alone in a three-hundred-square-foot dorm room while teaching at a renowned international boarding school in Bangalore. This compelling, honest, and edifying memoir shares everything she learned about perseverance, travel, education, faith, and family. Had Sandra never resided in India, she would have missed out on an experience that ultimately enhanced her resiliency, confidence, and passion for life. Show more Show less
