San Francisco Travel brings the city to life in a new podcast series, “Sounds of San Francisco.” Recorded by award-winning sound designers, these podcasts tell the story of the city’s iconic sites, offering a behind-the-scenes look into neighborhoods and sounds that make them unique, including: the canle car bell, the Pier 39 sea lions, and the restaurants of Chinatown.
In the first edition of the 32 for 32 report by The Rocket Sports Breakdown, we'll be covering the San Francisco 49ers who were, by far, the biggest soap opera in all of the 2014 off-season. That drama carried over into the regular season which many of us had began to hear rumors of tension between the organization & former head coach Jim Harbaugh, who left to become head coach at his alma mater, Michigan University. In 2015, there have been many changes to this team. It started w/ a new head coaching hire in Jim Tomsula, which resulted in many folks scratching their heads & making more bar trips to drown their depressions. A handful of players have either retired, moved on to other teams in free agency, or simply been cut. However, some of their new editions have included linebacker Darnell Dockett, running back Reggie Bush, & wide receiver Torrey Smith, whose former team Baltimore Ravens defeated the 49ers in the Super Bowl just 3 seasons ago. He'll be reunited alongside Anquan Boldin, who was also on that Ravens team before being traded to San Fran. The big question for the Niners is what type of team will they be in 2015? We'll discuss that & their first round draft pick - defensive end Arik Armstead (Oregon) & more on The Rocket Sports Breakdown which airs this Wednesday morning @ 9:30am on Blog Talk Radio. Rocket Nation, get ready for our first big 32 for 32 power trip.
Please join host Frankie Picasso along with her guest Doniece Sandoval, founder of Lava Mae on Thursday, June 11th at 1:00 pm est for The Good Radio Network.
Doniece is the brainchild and founder of Lava Mae, a mobile washroom and shower station that services the 3500 plus homeless in San Francisco and gives them a chance to get clean on a regular basis.
Doniece knew she wanted to help the homeless and a chance encounter gave her the idea she needed to help deliver dignity and unlock the opportunity for these street folks needed — one shower at a time.
Let's face it, most of take water and bathing for granted, but imagine how difficult it would be to get a job, control hygiene or even find housing when no one will let you use their public toilets or washrooms? No one wants to sit next to someone who is smelly, dirty and literally an attraction for disease? So Imagine how difficult it is to get yourself OFF the streets when you can't get clean? No one will hire you or give you a clean apartment.
Lava Mae offers these folks their dignity. By giving them a washroom, and a chance to bathe away the grime, these homeless folks can now shedule their bathing opportunity weekly, and through partnering alliances, maybe even get fresh underwear, socks and clean clothes.
Lava Mae is run by volunteers.

What does it take to WOW the refined world of high Opera? Join us as mezzo-soprano Elizabeth DeShong talks about Opera, song, and life.
Born and raised in northcentral Pennsylvania, opera singer Elizabeth DeShong has been lauded in North America and Europe for her "well-cultivated" and "big, bright and pleasing" voice; EDGE San Francisco said, "“...DeShong sings like a vocal giant. Her lowest notes have body and depth; her midrange is rich and compelling; and her highs are dispensed with a freedom that many a mezzo daily prays for. ”
She has performed with The Metropolitan Opera, English National Opera, Canadian Opera Company, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Radio Symphonie Orchestre Wien, among others, and at the Glyndebourne Festival in England.
DeShong received a master's degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, after which she was accepted into the young artist program at the Lyric Opera of Chicago's Ryan Opera Center.
The recipient of numerous awards, Ms. DeShong received the Washington National Opera’s “Artist of the Year Award” in 2010 for her debut performance as the Composer in Richard Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos. Her portrayal of Maffio Orsini in the San Francisco Opera’s Lucrezia Borgia was widely released on DVD.
Further performances of note include Maffio Orsini in Lucrezia Borgia with San Franciso Opera and English National Opera, Angelina in La Cenerentola at the Canadian Opera Company, Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream at Lyric Opera of Chicago, and her sensational Rosina in THE BARBER OF SEVILLE with the Los Angeles Opera.
While "The Voice" has not been doing any regularly scheduled broadcasts lately due to lack of commitment, lack of opinion, lack of enthusiasm or a combination of any and all of these things at various times, occassionally something comes up in the news that he actually KNOWS a little about, such as the recent bus accidents in New York City and how they are handled. And then on to topics that he merely has an opinion on such as the Rudy Giuliani comments about President Obama. Then there was the missing Oscar dress that was about to get as much coverage as the missing Malaysian Airlines flight.
