    Finding your Roots

    in Culture

If you don’t know where you came from, how are you going to get where ever you’re trying to go? Familiarity with your immediate family history is a requirement for personal growth and family pride. Our guest, Ms. Kelly Shea, will reveal her unique story on how she searched and located her father’s relatives. She will also reveal how that exercise gave her a hearty appetite for researching one's roots while providing tips to make your search easier.

We will also get the details on her entrepreneurial skills. She has formed and operates Physician Fees First LLC. It’s a consulting, credentialing and billing firm whose website is located at www.physicianfeesfirst.com.  You will be able to call 347-237-4908, ask a direct question, and receive firsthand knowledge and advice during the show.

Pictured are, (1) Ms. Shea’s business card, (2) visiting her newly found but late Uncle Calvin Hampton, (3) her mother (Kathy Steinke) and father (Joe Hampton), and (4) Kelly M. Shea herself.

Of course, there will be music selections and a report on the upcoming midterm election November 4, 2014.

  • Smithfix Presents: "The Conviction Factory" with Dr. Roger Roots

    in Politics

Tonight we have a special guest, Dr. Roots, with a Bio too long for me to put in these show notes.

Dr. Roger Roots, J.D., Ph.D. Attorney and Founder, Fair Procedure Initiative, and nationally recognized criminologist, legal scholar and civil liberties activist.  America's most provocative scholar of criminology and constitutional history argues that America's criminal courts have gradually abandoned adversarial due process and embraced a more inquisitorial model of justice favored by prosecutors. In theory, convicting someone of a crime should be more difficult than obtaining a civil judgment by winning a lawsuit against him. The burden of proof is higher (beyond a reasonable doubt in criminal cases, as opposed to a mere preponderance of evidence in civil cases), and there are supposedly a number of constitutional protections for criminal defendants that do not apply to civil litigants. However, in modern courtrooms, convictions are obtained almost effortlessly by prosecutors. In "The Conviction Factory", Dr. Roots traces the history of American criminal justice from its roots in English common law and then follows this history into the twenty-first century. Roots details how the adversarial model of justice, which pits the prosecution against the defendant on a level playing field, has been quietly and slowly whittled away. This book is exhaustively footnoted. It represents a continuation (and partially a compilation) of Roots' previously published law review articles on the subject of criminal procedural history. The Conviction Factory is more than just a history of criminal procedure. It is a gripping story that provokes fundamental questions about fairness, justice and trust in the institutions of government.

The Testimony of someone that has come out of Organized Religion.

    in Christianity

Roots of Restoration Host Talescia Redding and Co-Host Kelli Shrubsall Discuss why the Father is calling some out of the Church.  Kelli  gives her personal testimony today, as to how and why the Father called her out of Organized Religion and what she is doing now.

This is a must hear for anyone that has ever thought  "There must be more than this" within the Church.  We discuss the current mindset of main stream Christianity versus what Walking out the Scriptures looks like.

Discussing that the Fathers Words are not done away with and that we as the Body of Believers need to Walk in what is written versus what the System of Religion is tell us to do.  As Yeshua our Messiah has said, I did not come to abolish the Torah, but to show you how to live it. (Mathew 5:17-20)

There are many testimonies of people who are having their eyes open by the Spirit of the Father to the Truth of His Word.   “Come now, and let us reason together,”  Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet,They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.  Isaiah 1:18

We must ask ourselves; Am I willing to reason with the Scriptures or am I wanting to debate my perscpective?

Late Night in the Word - A Journey to the Roots

    in Religion

Late Night in the Word is a program focused on exploring the roots that established the New Testament scriptures and the Life that Jesus brought.  After Jesus was resurrected he walked on a road to a town called Emmaus with two of his disciples.  The scripture says that he started with Moses and went through all the writings and the prophets and showed them all the scriptures about himself.  This is our focus.  To bring into the light the long hidden connections between the writers of the Old Testament and the fulfillment of their hopes in the New Testament and the work of Jesus and all of his disciples.

Late Night is a product of Olive Branch Ministries of Acworth, Georgia.  If you want more information you can click over to www.olivebranchonline.org.  Thank you for listening.
