SSWAG - We "Gotta Win"; Find Out How As We Interview Jonathan Riddick!

    in Christianity

Jonathan Riddick was born January 19 in Austin, Texas & raised in Houston, Texas. At age 12, Jonathan received the Holy Ghost at a youth camp he attended where his grandmother went to church. He stayed in Baton Rouge with his grandmother for a year and then went back to Houston, Texas. He had a stepfather who was instrumental in his life & was the neighborhood drug dealer. When Jonathan was 15, his stepfather died. His stepfather's death caused him to drop out of school that year. He was only in the 8th grade by this time. After this heartbreaking event, he felt as if his life began to have a down spiraling effect. Jonathan began to engage in gangbanging, but at the age of 17 he encountered God again and was renewed in the Holy Ghost. He began preaching at 19 for God but soon after that, he backslid caused by a bad relationship. He moved back to Texas. Later, in Texas back into his old environment, he went to jail for a pistol case. When things felt like they couldn't get any worse, God performed a miracle when he should've received a felony. After he was released from jail he was renewed again by the Holy Ghost. He began going to church. There he received a prophecy about crossing a bridge once again & repairing a breach, also that God has placed a heavy anointing on his life and God healed his back moments before the prophecy, he began experiencing family problems, which led to backsliding again. Staying in an abandoned apartment, he was rapping and in the streets. Living fast on drugs, he ended up going back to Baton Rouge visiting for a friend's wedding. While he was not planning on being renewed, he was renewed and now he's on a mission for Christ. He made his mind up, & decided for God I live! Prophecies have been coming to pass....God stopped him in his tracks just as He did the apostle Paul.

Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey - with Gerald Veasley!

    in Music

Now, you KNOW that this host/producer is loving the idea of a Philly Phriend on the show, right?  Ha Ha!  Gerald Veasley is not only a superb, globally known bassist - and overseer of a fabulously successful Bass Boot Camp each year - but you might remember him as an integral on-air personality at the former WJJZ in The City of Brotherly Love.  Our similar WSMJ was right down the road in Baltimore.  So, GV and I have a teensy weensy bit to discuss in THAT area :)

The reason for this special Wednesday show is because of Gerald's series of shows at a new venue in our shared hometown.  "South" is generating MUCH buzz - because of its unbelievable food and it's JAZZ!  Already, our guest has hosted Alex Bugnon - and he's about to welcome Karen Briggs on 10/22!  Other guests on the horizon include the luminous Carol Riddick, Marion Meadows, Kirk Whalum and James Lloyd - some of your absolute, long-time favorite artists.

As you probably know, Gerald had a great partnership with the late/great Joe Zawinul - he played bass with Joe for seven years.  He also played with Odean Pope's Saxophone Choir.  And launched his solo career in 1992.  Two handfuls of projects later, he has NOT slowed down.  One of the highlights of time spent at the Berks Jazz Festival was enjoying the Jams within the Crowne Plaza in Reading.  There, Gerald held court - with a myriad of household names stopping by to play. So, it's a no-brainer that the owners of "South" would tap our friend to invite pals to participate in the new renaissance happening for Jazz in Philly.  The creation of a venue like this means a LOT to those of us who love the genre.  Orrin Evans is actually doing his own series there - with "the other side of the aisle" in terms of style.  ALL kinds of Jazz!

See you on 10/21 at ONE p.m. Eastern - GV joins us then!

    Coming Apocalypse P

    in Current Events

Afghan officers chain young boys to their beds to use for sex slaves. Our military men and women suffered undue distress as they are told to look the other way.  Lance Corporal Gregory Buckley Jr told his father Gregory Buckley Sr. how haunted he was by the boys screams all night. That was the last words he told his father before he was killed by one of these sex slaves, brought on to the base for the illicit sexual use of a police commander Mr. Jan. Many military officials were reprimanded for bringing the horrific acts of Mr. Jan to light, even being told that this information was classified. Mr. Jan has since been promoted.       Palestinian president Abbas warns of risk of new intifada as the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha collides with the Jewish solemn fast of Yom Kippur on Wednesday.     Bowe Bergdahl's preliminary hearing admits to Bergdahl willingly leaving his base, only to be captrued by insurgents and tortured. Intense operations were launched in the search for the missing soldier yet the claims of the six lives lost are said to have no evidence to link their deaths to this incident. Lawrence O'Donnell made this a talking point in an attempt to discredit Donald Trump last night.  The House voted in HR 3134 to Defund Planned Parenthood for 1 year while investigations take place as the Center for Medical Progress continues to post videos of their undercover work showing Planned Parenthood officials bartering for baby parts.                    The Pope arrives today with a controversial invitation list at the White House.

Bowe Bergdahl, Obama's Kind of Fighting Man

    in Politics Conservative

The Army has charged Bowe Bergdahl with desertion and has referred to an Article 32 military preliminary hearing which is the military version of a grand jury.  Should Bergdahl be convicted by a General court martial,he faces the possibility of life in prison.  This represents yet another embarrasing episode for the Obama Administration, coming on the heels of great fanfare after Bergdahl's release and coupled with Rose Garden photo ops with Bergdahl's parents.
