Philosopher Dr. Diana Hsieh interviewed English Ph.D student Kelly Elmore about "The Value of Rhetoric" in this episode of Philosophy in Action Radio. What is rhetoric? Why does it matter? How can the basic concepts of rhetoric help us write more effectively, understand advertising better, or speak more effectively? Kelly Elmore is an English graduate student in Rhetoric and Composition, an assistant director of the Georgia State University Writing Studio, a teacher of freshman composition, writing consultant for the geology department, homeschooling mom to Livy, partner to Aaron, and the instigator of family adventures for both, avid reader, lover of vampires and the Regency, separate or combined, Anglophile, extrovert, and proud possessor of a very tall soapbox. As the Rhym-o-graphy moves foward I'll keep it in the best chronological order possible though there were over extra productive weeks and months where I've made a cluster of material that centered around one point in my human developement.
For this one we'll play some later joints but we won't be discussing them and I'll yack it up a bit about bumper sticker rhetoric and why we don't have that luxary.
I posted a fun little video with pictures previewing this show.
If you'd like to hear the first song with better audio quality and see some fun pictures...

RFS is a recently recognized affliction suffered by millions of black women. Most do not know they have it, as the rhetoric is dispensed on a daily basis, and many have built up a resistance over the years. Rhetoric Fatigue Syndrome is the umbrella term for a vast array of symptoms such as:
GTFOHWTBSitis SICKOFYOSHYTitis NINJAPLEASEitis A further, often overlooked symptom of RFS includes instant headache and blurred eyesight whenever a black man asks a black woman to solve their behavior ("how do you plan on preventing further damage in the future") or places blame on society (the white people who have been plotting on the demise of the black community) for their behavior.
In advanced stages of RFS, women experience instant migraines upon hearing the words 'Willie Lynch' and/or 'it all goes back to slavery'. Relief is temporarily experienced when black men actually take responsibility for their own actions instead of blaming others, but that relief is often short lived.
The team at Rant n Rave Radio's The Agenda have been looking at the rhetoric coming from the new conservative federal government. There has already been a lot said about some of its so-called plans.
But there has been very little real scrutiny of the rhetoric versus the action being taken by Tony Abbott and his new cohort of ministers.
It's only a new government and already it's facing significant credibility issues.
So join in with Greg and Alex as they rant and rave about the big issues facing Australia - they love it when you vent your spleen.
I love that I live in this time of online social networking.
I can easily interact with smart people... People waaaay smarter than me and more insightful.
Thanks to this wild world of social networking I was able to interact with and ultimately schedule a show with this fella Rhetoric Resurrected.
We're going to dig into this whole business with being a Black person in the south that simply isn't convinced that any diety exists from any religion.
So grab a glass, have a sip and sit your ass down.
You're in the Wine Cellar with Father Teresa, and I'd love to be held responsible for how intoxicated you get in place of non-worship.
Enjoy the show.

Peace, truth & love,
Welcome to wingnut radio. Here, we spew the most inflamatory rhetoric that'll offend more people, in the name of the "right-wing" and "Conservatism", even if the point can be expressed in better ways. Do you think Sarge is the greatest thing since sliced bread? Do you think that Black Conservative, a hypocrite, who spews racism about his own people, is the most erudite mind here on BTR? Do you think that all abortions are murder no matter what? Do you think that Moshe Katsav was innocent and that it was all feminism's fault that he was convicted? Do you think that if a woman was raped, she can "shut the whole thing down" [as what one senator said] i.e. prevent herself from being pregnant? Do you define political Conservatism as your way of being, instead of as a correct philosophy, like Tea Party Paul? Well, then if you fit that description and more, you may very well be a wingnut. Which means this show will be talking about your way of thinking. So tune in and listen.
It's FairTax night on RATRRadio! I'll be talking to Mark Schaff, the Volunteer Grassroots Fairtax State Director and Regional Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region as well as Dave Kahn, the Baltimore District Director.
They will be sharing with us their reaons for advocating for a FairTax, the upcoming vote on HR25 and how you can become involved. Tune in at 8pm!
Tonight's show is going to be all kinds of awesome! In the first segment we'll be speaking to Wendi Peters, candidate for House of Delegates in District 4. Because this month is Breast Cancer Awareness month, we'll also be discussing her journey as a survivor.
In the second segment, we'll be speaking with Republican political activist, conservative commentator and our National Committeewoman, the extraordinary Nicolee Ambrose.
So much awesome packed into 90 minutes or less! See you at 8pm!
