Discussion surrounds his involvement in providing a well-balanced series of educational programs for students of all ages. History and Philosophy Professor Sam Wilson along with a Rio student will join the show.
Reyna Grande the author Across a Hundred Mountains, Dancing with Butterflies, and The Distance Between Us.
She has received an American Book Award, the El Premio Aztlan Literary Award, and an International Latino Book Award. Her memoir, the Distance Between Us (2012), was a finalist for the prestigious National Book Critics Circle Award.
The Distance Between Us is an inspirational coming-of-age story about the pursuit of a better life. It is about Reyna Grande's life before and after she illegally immigrated to the United States at the age of nine to be reunited with her father. What do immigrants gain and what do they lose in their pursuit of the American Dream?

Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 3:00 pm, VOICE OF RIO with Dr. Richard Sax, Provost of the University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College welcomes Ivan Tribe & Jake Bapst. Ivan M. Tribe is emeritus professor at the University of Rio Grande and has written three books and many articles on country music history. Jacob L. Bapst is semiretired from the same school and a self-described country fan. Illustrations come from the authors' extensive collections accumulated over more than four decades, Goldenseal magazine files, and privately owned collections. They discuss their recently (March, 2015) published book in the “Images of America” series, West Virginia’s Traditional Country Music.
Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 3:00 pm, VOICE OF RIO with Dr. Michelle Johnston, President of the University of Rio Grande, and Rio Grande Community College will discuss and review with Jeff Lanham, Athletic Director with the University regarding the 2014-2015 activities in Athletics. Rio is a major contender in many different sports arenas both in Women and Men’s competition. Jeff will also highlight some of the major accomplishments of Rio’s student athletes with its involvement in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) League.
April 22, 2015 at 3:00 pm VOICE OF RIO with host Dr. David Lawrence, Associate Provost, URG/RGCC. His guest will be Dr. Stephanie Alexander, Director of Student Success, at the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College. Discussions will surround strategies in helping students succeed in their college life along with some new initiatives that will continue to foster student accomplishments with their academic coursework.

Wednesday, May 20 at 2:00 pm, AGRI-TALK with Duane Rigsby and Mike Thompson who will feature Tom Harker, Research Assistant with The Ohio State University South Centers. Tom has much experience in assisting the various Educator Researchers in various horticultural programs at the South Centers in Piketon. He brings to the discussion different ways to grow fruits, vegetables and other agricultural products.
April 1st, 2015, at 3:00 pm, VOICE of RIO features Dr. Michelle Johnston, President of the University of Rio Grande, Rio Grande Community College. 3:00 –Dr. Donna Mitchell and Dr. David Lawrence, Deans, University of Rio Grande will discuss a new educational program –DSW, Direct Service Worker Certificate that meets the need job force demands regarding in-home health Care. Also, discussion will surround the University of Rio Grande’s AQIP – Academic Quality Improvement Program - process through which the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College maintains its accredited status with The Higher Learning Commission.
Luke Daniels, student with the University of Rio Grande, will be interviewing Dr. Worley regarding the four (4) major program areas at The Ohio State University South Centers in Piketon, Ohio on March 18, 2015 at 3:00 pm. Dr. Worley will spotlight, the Research and Educational Programs that include: HORTICULTIRE, AQUACULTURE. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT NETWORK and SOIL/WATER.
April 15, 2015 at 2:00 on AGRI_TALK, with Duane Rigsby, Brad Bergefurd and Mike Thomas. TIS’ the SEASON of Strawberries and Brad Bergefurd, OSU South Centers, Horticulture Specialist and Educator ,will discuss proper procedures in planting, caring and harvesting of delicious strawberries.
Hosts, Debbie Marcum & Deb DeRousse, are working to bring awareness to the growing problem with Human/Sex Trafficking in our nation. January is National Human Trafficking awareness month, so part of our show this evening will be dedicated again to awareness, but we promise you that we will not limit this topic to one month a year.
We also have the Mother of Anastasia Reyna, a 14 year old girl who is missing. Anastasia was last seen on January 14, 2015 in Lansing, MI. She is 5’ 6” tall, weighs 264 lbs., has brown eyes, and brown hair.
