Today's Topic: Do you feel that affirmative action gives the minority class an opportunity at fairness or that it is simply reverse discrimination and it restricts other class of people to fairness?
Is That Discrimination again? What is the current tide of discrimination. Who are winners and losers of discrimination? Does our culture foster discrimination. Is that a quality that is learned and past down from generation to generation. How does today's generation address discrimination. How much progress have we made in the area of discrimination. Even though we have advanced, why does discrimination rears its head with progress. What role does the government play in fostering discrimination? How do we rid of ourselves of discrimination?
The term discrimination is too often associated with racism versus disability. In addition, racism and discrimination are frequently related in the U.S. media to the victimization of African-Americans and other Non-White groups by White Americans. As a result, African-American students with mental/learning or physical disabilities are often overlooked as they face the challenges of higher education and workforce success. Dr. Applewhite is joined by Special Guest Professor Kelmer Muhammad (Educator, Entrepreneur, Author) to discuss discrimination and realistic solutions. This is a previous broadcast aired on 11-16-13 as “Students Discuss Reality of Discrimination We appreciate your one time or monthly donation of at least $5 or more to continue our radio broadcasts and help our students and Veterans with disabilities, in reaching their education and workforce goals? Monday, February 23rd, Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson allowed a new law to block future anti-discrimination laws (to go into effect 90 days after the legislative session ends later this summer). While the premise of the new law known as SB 202 appears reasonable, in actuality this law allows legal discrimination for all non-protected classes.
In this episode, we hear from three Arkansas residents. Meet once again Scott Wyant, Founder of Straight Talk Arkansas, a website dedicated to Living liberally in the Mid-South.
We'll also hear from Cathey Shoshone and Christina Harrison. Cathey is the Co-Chair and Christina is the Founder of Arkansans For Equality.
Christina Harrison was born and raised in Arkansas. She founded Arkansans for Equality in 2011. As an ally, she had become frustrated with the bigotry she came across towards our fellow Arkansans in the LGBTQ community and wanted to do something to help. She began a ballot initiative to repeal Amendment 83 soon after. Christina is a combat veteran in the Army National Guard, and has just recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan.
Cathey Shoshone, also an ally, was born in Arkansas but has lived in several states around the South. She lives in Arkansas currently, She "liked" the Arkansan for Equality facebook page and volunteered to collect signatures for the ballot initiative. The ballot initiative became obsolete when Cheryl Maples and Jack Wagoner won their case in Judge Piazza's courtroom legalizing same-sex marriage. A federal case has also overthrown Amendment 83 to the Arkansas State Constitution. This decision has been stayed pending an appeal hearing.
Voice of Rebellion Radio out of Stay Bold Radio responds to the denial of Al Suarez's membership into the Student Government Association of Ybor campus Hillsborough Community College in Tampa. Al has gone to this College since 2013, and experienced discrimination for this activism. We will go over cases of where students have been suspended, maltreated or discriminated against for their activism. We suspect Dr. Robinson (who's image is shown on the show) campus president is behind the decision inspite of promises by the Dean to Al. Dr. Robinson sent security on Al for showing up to his own radio studios on campus and had him unjustly temporarily suspended for speaking out once on the air and for a College paper article. Al returned and was banned a semester from College media. He still takes part in HCC clubs and committees. Chris Jay the co host in his high school had experienced similar things. We will be accepting callers. We hope to bring awareness and show how to fight such discrimination as our tax dollars pay for these schools that violate our free speech. The program will be 2 hours starting at 8pm eastern.

Listen to Maryann Ehman's Story. Maryann was a highly skilled and educated professional, prosecuting attorney, and ministry leader, Maryann struggled with oppressive perfectionism, shame, and worry formed early on by childhood abuse, discrimination, and abandonment. External cultural expectations on women in the workforce and the church, caused further damage to her sense of worth and value.
However, in His faithfulness, God reshaped her mindset and broke through its limitations when He put the study of His favor in front of her day after day for over a year and a half. Today Maryann leads and coaches those who believe that God has called them to more, but don’t necessarily have the clarity they need, strong sense of their value and identity, or the strategies and systems they need to implement their calling. Suffering burnout 3 time herself, she is an expert in guiding Caregivers in ways to avoid it.

The Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) is FHAs reverse mortgage program which enables you to withdraw some of the equity in your home. The borrower chooses how they want to withdraw their funds, whether in a fixed monthly amount or a line of credit or a combination of both. Borrowers can also use a Home Equity Conversion Mortgage to purchase a primary residence if the borrower is able to use cash on hand to pay the difference between the HECM proceeds and the sales price plus closing costs for the property that is being purchased.
As the demographics of the nation continues to trend towards older homeowners, this could be an area of high growth for mortgage originators and investors.
Joining the broadcast to discuss Home Equity Conversion Mortgages is David Fontanilla, Founder and Managing Partner of Madison Paige Capital and Pioneer Analytics. David has been involved in an array of residential mortgage capital markets activities, ranging from structuring, negotiating and executing portfolio Acquisitions, dispositions and securitizations to company acquisitions and public policy formulation.

As your business grows and you decide to accept new employees, it becomes ever so crucial for both employees and employers to understand how to avoid, handle, and even to pursue or defend claims of discrimination and/or retaliation in the workplace. In this show, Bill and Rick explore the relationship between employer and employee and how specifically claims are to be addressed under both State and Federal law if they do arise, and what can and should be done prior to the onset of litigation.
Join us today on Women Leading the Way Radio as Cecile Bereal your host of Serving Up Diversity, interviews Chris Olmsted, Shareholder/Employment Law and Litigation at Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, PC.
Today we will ask Chris about employment discrimination and harassment. Currently, California employers with 50 or more employers are required to provide harassment prevention training to supervisors. Under this new law, this training must also include training and education on the prevention of ‘abusive conduct’ or bullying.
Mr. Olmsted regularly consults with clients regarding employment law compliance, and also provides training to management and staff, as well as other attorneys.
