Dog training and behavior expert and host, Julie Forbes shares her experience working with women and their dogs. Topics like setting boundaries with your body, women's relationship with their bodies and also societal expectations of women and femininity - all covered in today's show. How does this connect with you working with your dog effectively? You'll find out today.
Julie Forbes has been offering in-home private lessons for clients in the greater Seattle area for over ten years. Her experience working with people, mostly women, and their dogs has taught her a lot about dogs, women, authentic leadership and feminine power. How does the old Alpha model apply to your relationship with your dog? Does it at all? What is dominance?
We will be discussing the growing trend of giving dogs away on Facebook, Craigslist, and other internet sites. There are some people who think a nominal fee will guarantee their dog ends up in a loving home. The harsh reality of what happens to these dogs after you drive away is our focus this week. We'll also be discussing some better avenues for re-homing a dog if that becomes a necessity. If you feel you have a question or comment that will add to the discussion please do call in on (646)716-6583 at 3:00 pm EST.

In her forward to Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Dog Did What?: “I hope you read something that reminds you of your favorite dog and suddenly realize that the relationship with him or her helped to create the thread of the person you became.” Miranda goes on to remind readers: “Don’t forget… love a shelter pet.”

St. Roch or Rocco lived c. 1348 – 15/16 August 1376/79, was a Christian saint, a confessor whose death is commemorated on 16 August; he is specially invoked against the plague. He was probably born at Montpellier, France, son of the governor there. He was orphaned when he was twenty. He went on pilgrimage to Rome and devoted himself to caring for the victims of a plague that was ravaging Italy. He became a victim himself at Piacenza but recovered and was reputed to have performed many miracles of healing. He may also be called Rock in English, and has the designation of St. Rollox in Glasgow, Scotland, said to be a corruption of St Roch's Loch. He is a patron Saint of dogs and falsely accused people, among other.
